‘Midnight Cowboy’ is great. I think it was ‘Fortran 5’ (or maybe ‘The Aloof’) that sampled that classic John Barry theme and made another great record to follow their Sid James one, whilst I think ‘Faith No More’ also did a cover of the tune as a B-side to one of their singles.

my 2 favourites are

Dirty Dancing and Pulp Fiction

also Space Jam  and probably some more but I can't remember at the moment :P

tbh im not that fussed on film themes... i prefer original scores as oposed to new films pinching old tracks.

feel free to include original soundtracks if u wish :)

I love The Crow soundtrack - a good mix of tracks. I also love the Betty Blue soundtrack by Gabriel Yared and the Twin Peaks soundtrack.
the beautiful Gabriel Yared soundtrack for Betty Blue gets my vote.
Dirty dancing, Pulp fiction, Music & Lyrics, Pretty Woman, Saturday night fever, Footloose,....

Great choice 45cat - that was John Barry at his best.

I'll nominate the Lost in Translation soundtrack as I love it.

Pretty Woman (Roxette - It Must Have Been Love)

Top Gun (Berlin - Take My Breath Away)

Batman Returns (U2 - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me)

Super Mario Bros. (Roxette - Almost Unreal)

Flash Gordon (Queen)

I can't believe that the Mission Impossible 2 sound track was overlooked.

The first 6 songs are sublime. Its in my Top 20 albums of all time.

I also like Dogs in Space - with loads of Australian new wave and Singles (the grunge movie)

Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler (Beaches) is absolutely fantastic.

Cry Little Sister from Lost Boys soundtrack - brilliant.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 has some great songs (some not included in the soundtrack thou): Back To The Wall by Divinyls, Anything, Anything by Dramarama, Nightmare by Tuesday Knight, I Want (Your Hands On Me) by Sinead O'Connor etc.

The Crow soundtrack - great.

And, of course, Beautiful Thing soundtrack with all the fab Mamas & Papas hits.

I also like Dogs in Space - with loads of Australian new wave and Singles (the grunge movie)

Isn't that the one with Michael Hutchence in it?

He wasn't too bad for his first acting gig.

Too bad he didn't get the part of Jim Morrison in Oliver Stones Doors movie.

He would've been awesome.

I'll nominate the Lost in Translation soundtrack as I love it.

yeah man, that is excellent as well as the virgin suicides by air. her last film had some good punk/goth type things on it

oh and starter for ten for the cure

Just one answer for me:

The Paul Thomas Anderson produced Magnolia original sound track.

Aimee Mann was robbed of an Oscar by a Mr Phillip Collins (because of his work on the Disney Tarzan movie) this year from her stunning work on this soundtrack.....

Aimee Mann - Wise Up (2000)

Aimee Mann - Save Me (2000)

The songs were intricate parts of the movie & its dialogue & character development, but in an intelligent and emotionally highbrow way......

High School Musical 2 it ain't!
