Delta's Single 'In This Life' Debuts At #1!

24.09.07

Delta Goodrem's new single 'In This Life' has debuted at #1 on the ARIA single charts! "I am so incredibly excited about the #1 chart, this debut means so much to me. Just to be back home and to feel so welcomed by my fans and the industry has been overwhelming! Thank you! I can't wait to share the rest of my new music with everyone soon", she said. The fresh, infectious track is the first from her eagerly awaited album 'Delta' which hits stores October 20

Singers James Blunt and Delta Goodrem have both debuted at the top of the charts with their latest releases.

It was a week for debuts on the Australian music charts as the previously elusive Christmas shopping season draws closer; the highest debuts of the week belonged to Delta Goodrem and James Blunt.

Delta is no stranger to the top position of the singles chart, having seven prior singles reaching number one. Goodrem’s latest single In This Life debuted at number one with a Gold status; accreditation that has rarely been achieved for a single on debut this year.

All The Last Souls saw James Blunt make a return to number one on the album chart; a position previously held by Blunt for two months with previous record Back To Bedlam, which became the highest selling album of 2006 in the process.

Timbaland, Matchbox Twenty and Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas all achieved top twenty debuts on the singles chart this week, while Kanye West and Shannon Noll both achieved top three debuts on the album chart alongside Blunt. The soundtrack to Hairspray and the late Luciano Pavarotti’s Pavarotti Forever also both had an impact, making a significant incline on the charts.

Aussie pop princess Delta Goodrem has made the ultimate comeback, with her new single In This Life debuting at number one this week.

The ARIA award-winning Goodrem has been absent from the charts since her 2004 album Mistaken Identity.

With a stunning new look and sound, she tops the singles chart jam-packed with superstars, including new entries Timbaland at number five and Matchbox Twenty at number eight.

Fergie's Big Girls Don't Cry has been pushed down to number three, above Rihanna's Shut Up and Drive at number six and Fall Out Boy's Thnks Fr Th Mmrs at number seven.

Ex-Australian Idol contestant Shannon Noll has also burst back onto the scene with his new album Turn It Up, debuting at number three.

The public battle between Kanye West and 50 Cent, with both rappers vowing to out-sell the other, has peaked with West's album Graduation debuting at number two, knocking 50 Cent's Curtis to number four.

Crooner James Blunt beats them both to the punch, with his album All The Lost Souls debuting at number one.
