The man suspected of fatally shooting Proof of D12 turned himself into police on Wednesday, (April 12). Mario Etheridge, a bouncer at the Detroit nightclub where the incident took place, is being held in police custody for questioning. Proof was shot and killed outside the C.C.C. club on 8 Mile Road early Tuesday morning. Whilst details are still sketchy, it is believed that Proof became involved in a heated argument regarding an earlier pool game with one of the bouncers, Keith Bender Jr., at around 4.30am. The rapper then allegedly pulled out a gun, pistol-whipping Bender. “Proof knocked dude down and stood over him with gun in hand,†told a source close to Proof, born DeShaun Holton. “Proof shot first. The bouncer on the ground didn't shoot Proof; another bouncer [Etheridge] did. Proof was shot 4 times. Twice in the head and twice in the chest/stomach area.†Etheridge is the cousin of Bender, who is in critical condition and on life-support in hospital.
