YAY!!!!1

EastEnders star John Bardon has walked for the first time since he suffered a severe stroke six months ago.

The 67-year-old actor, who plays Dot's husband Jim Branning in the soap, was admitted to hospital in June and was warned that he may never be able to work again.

Bardon was wheelchair-bound and suffered poor speech but he has now made progress by managing to walk a few paces.

A family friend of the star told the Mirror: "It was the first time he has managed to do anything under his own power. We just hope and pray it is the beginning of the recovery to full health, but it will be a long haul."

Since his stroke, fans of the programme have written in to show their support for him. A BBC insider said: "The EastEnders audience want to see John back by Dot Cotton's side as soon as possible."

i detect that its the young who mainly liked these episodes and therefore arnt old enough to have seen these plots before!!! :P

I thought the episodes were ok - not brilliant as some people are claiming - but they did their job - and I actually liked Lacey Turner's acting in these episodes. But please - is it awful to hate a pensioner? Because I can't stand Dot!

You are so right about them being tired old stories though.

Dot is a LEGEND!! :o If they ever get rid of her I'd be sooo sad.

I do feel a bit guilty about disliking the character but June Brown to me just seems to be doing a permanent Albert Steptoe impression. I guess I just don't like 'stalwarts' in shows - I couldn't stand Hilda Ogden in Coronation Street and was delighted when she left!

Good epsiode tonight. Am looking forward to Kevin's big exit next week. It certainly won't be a great loss to the show that's for sure

Phil Daniels was a major disappointment. All he seems to do is whine in a very loud voice. I thought he was rubbish as a singer - but I wish he'd go back to it now!

And why does Phil Mitchell want his daughter back ... he can't even look after his son!

im glad kevin is leaving i wont miss him at all,im not keen on his acting at all either, phil wants louise back as its there way of bringing back lisa
ABI is quite a good actress im sure max will use the kids to the maximum to get tanya back,i hope stacey and bardley can work it out though but if they do i bet bradley will have an affair to get back at her

I think Bradley and Stacey should get back together. :D He obviously still loves her and she still loves him so. -_-

Oh and Steven was so awkward tonight with Stacey. I seriously can't stand him, such a bad actor!

Lacey Turner, Jo Joyner, Charlie Clements and Jo Joyner are so fantastic at acting that the Christmas day episode was easily the best piece of TV all year. The acting was amazing. If it was say Kara Tointon or Matt Di Angeleo that was doing this storyline, I don't think I would have half enjoyed it as much because there simply not good actors.

I don't want to spoil anything but

They get back together around Valentines Day

i agree all the actors invlolved were amazing and all brilliant performances, kara who plays dawn is a great ctress she proved that with her baby storyline however i agree if it was deano or carly doing the x mas day scenes they wudnt have been near as good

Does Tanya

fall into a coma or something? A spoiler a couple of months back said that after the revelation, an accident caused by Max (presumably the fall down the stairs) leaves her 'fighting for her life'...

Well I watched EE over xmas for the first time since last xmas :o [due to being at me mothers obvs ].

I have to say the twist where Tanya fell down the stairs and Max took the baby and the other girl I did not see coming. :o Very impressive much better than the other soaps imo. And poor Bradley. He shouldn't take Stacey back at all. I think he's really sweet :(
