Posted September 26, 200717 yr well! on breakfast tv this morning they are on about the chuckle brothers celebrating 20 years in comedy on tv! maybe im too old, but i never found them very funny at all! but their simple clownery did appeal to the young, i guess thats harmless enough. did you like them?
September 26, 200717 yr I thought it was longer than that! Amazing that the spiky mullets and pencil taches have pretty much remained intact too.
September 26, 200717 yr Maybe you are thinking about their ‘Chuckle Hounds’ show instead. As a child, twenty years ago, I was too old to be bothered about ‘the Chuckle Brothers’. However as a student in the 1990s, they became one of those acts that you became ‘obsessed with’ as one of your on-going student in-jokes. I think this could be seen as the Northern manifestation of the whole ‘Grand Royale’ / ‘Beastie Boys’ / ‘mullet-spotting’ concept from that period in time. I remember that one night we all went to see a show at the ‘Davenport Theatre’ in Stockport. I cannot remember exactly what the show was, it could have been local theatre or it could have been ‘Bottom Live’, but afterwards we took a great deal of posters such as ‘the Chuckle Brothers’ and ‘Mike Fab Gear’, to be put up as a student ‘novelty’ and used for graffiti and as a pin board.
September 26, 200717 yr I'm with you Mushyman - Can't stand them - They're not funny - JUST STUPID!!!
September 26, 200717 yr Then again I suppose you would have to be about seven to find them funny in a non-ironic way, if you were to watch ‘Crackerjack’ or ‘Mike & Angelo’ again they would be as painful to watch, where once they would be rated by you as the funniest shows on television.
September 26, 200717 yr Crackerjack is ace...they showed a few episodes on Challenge a couple of years ago...Stu Francis in a tight adidas tracksuit...and they let him near kids? Yep, it was Chucklehounds I was thinking of, that was appallingly bad even then.
September 26, 200717 yr Can you remember any other of his catchphrases apart from the ‘Crush A Grape’ one?
September 26, 200717 yr Ooh I could wrestle an action man Ooh I could duff a daffodil Ooh I could kick sand in our budgie's eye (ouch!) Ooh I could jump over a doll's house He had a record out you know - I think it might have scraped the charts about 25 years ago.
September 26, 200717 yr I used to like them when I was like 13! But thier more for kids its not really adult humour
September 26, 200717 yr are they gay?....lol.. ooh !... No, just ‘Northern’. I think there was some scandal involving Barry ‘Chuckle’. I think it was reported that he is a bit of a ‘ladies man’ and was having an affair with a married lady. Also I believe that there are about nine ‘Chuckle’ brothers and one ‘Chuckle’ sister in the family.

The single didn't make the Top 75 so it was a big flop. Just went to youtube to search for it, all i could find was this videocam clip of him performing it years later in a club. SlfDl2R9FhY
