Joss Stone has come to Britney Spears' defence and urged everyone to stop bad-mouthing the troubled star.

Joss is the latest in a long line of supporters of Brittney, who was slated for her disastrous MTV Video Music Awards performance.

"I think people should shut up about Britney Spears," said Joss.

"I think they should leave her alone. She is a young woman. She should be going out."

And Joss also came up with an explanation for Britney's love of wearing no underwear. :lol:

"Every now and then you can't wear knickers because it shows a panty line," she said on NBC's In the Loop with iVillage.

The singer released a new single, Gimme More, earlier this month - but it was followed by a disastrous comeback performance at the MTV video music awards.

Joss revealed how she was invited to perform at Stevie Wonder's birthday party.

"I sang Signed, Sealed, Delivered," she told In the Loop.

 

"And I got to meet Whitney Houston. I'm so in love with her."

 

She also spoke out about performing at the Concert for Diana in London.

 

"I didn't want it to be like another gig as it's a special thing about her.

 

"The whole thing was really well organised. It was like a good energy," she said.
