Hello russt68 - I did assume the 68 applied to your birth year, that's why I put a ? beside 'young'!! Don't tell me you don't think D's music is 'uncool', no matter what your age!! :D You have to admit, no matter what your taste in music, Darius (and Gareth) are both very talented young men, and both have very strong followings. I don't know about Gareths future, but Darius' fans are all awaiting release of his third album, so, unless you have inside information, we will have to wait and see, won't we!! :D

I hope he managed to check that we are all paid up bj members and all entitled to one vote in any poll, just like any other member.

 

I don't give a jot what he thinks of CB. My number one of the decade has to be the song which I anticipated for eighteen months before its release, the song that rekindled my interest in non-classical music and that I have played more than any other song during the decade and indeed still get a thrill from seeing the video and hearing it when I'm not expecting to. That sort of pleasure is way beyond anything that any other song on that list has ever done.

absolutely not.

You can kick and scream and rant as much as you like but it won't change my opinion one bit. I will still listen to the songs which touch me, lyrics which I can relate to because of the experiences I have had.

 

A lot of those songs are by Darius, many of them non-singles and b-sides and some of them have inspired me to make changes in my life.

 

 

 

too true, I love Colourblind, play it constantly in the car - to me it is beautiful, I love the pipes, the musical arrangment, the sentiment - and if someone else doesnt enjoy it, well that's down to them - but I tend to like what I like, not what is "popular" top career, flagging career, changing career - doesnt stop me knowing I like a song! there are plenty of top selling artists out there whose songs I cannot stand.

There are two songs that scream "It's Summer" at me - Colourblind and DJ Sammy's Heaven - the vocals on that were heavenly. No "summer song" since has come close to the magic of those two.

there is one other I adore and makes me feel summery, reminds me of teenage evenings

I have never heard of PFO, mind you I am told I hardly recall any artist, only songs I like stick with me. I never cease to amaze relatives by not knowing who a famous song is by, even though it may be a favourite.

 

I just read Seal and Croft on a site just now, never heard of them - unless Seal is The Seal, I don't think I ever wondered who sang the song in all these years.

The votes are supposed to be fun but if certain people don't like other people's choices, they make a real song and dance and turn every one into a moaning thread which is no fun at all. So what's the point?

Actually, I think that PFO song was "A Summer Place" not "Summer Breeze".

It's somewhat of a joke, if deadlines are not stuck to. What are they doing waiting until they get the result they want before closing the pole :lol: Never mind :rolleyes: I said it was a bit of a pointless vote anyway. I suppose there could be a real reason it hasn't closed :unsure:

I don't think it's jealousy or resentment Baytree!! It only seems to ever be young? lads who have to comment that they think it is unreasonable for D to do too well - it probably is just that they have to be seen to be 'cool' and we all know that for some reason supporting D definitely is NOT!! :lol: D is too classy to be cool!! :D

 

And... I don't think all of us have necessarily given D the 20pts!! (But I did of course!!)

It's not about 'Darius'; or recording careers, or anything else, other than about a song - 'Colourblind' - or shouldn't be for goodness sake - people who like it vote for it, if you don't then fair enough, just don't vote for it - simple ^_^

Yes - I expected the results to be the Pop Forum where the voting threads were - but I've found it in the Lounge HERE - been working my way through and watching some of the videos B) - Colourblind was No.16 :)
