September 30, 200717 yr Sahlene was excellent...I agree David, Jessica Garlick, Sahlene and Ira Losco all deserved their top 5 placings...Marie N did not :( Corinna May was my only big casualty that year. I loved that song
September 30, 200717 yr Ira was ROBBED that year  Sahlene deserved top 3 ^_^ My ideal top 3 woulda been Ira, Jessica and Sahlene :yahoo:

"Grandma Beats The Drum" is one of those Eurovision songs that everyone remembered. Zdob Si Zdub are a well established band in Moldova, who won their national final to be the first act to represent them at Eurovision. While their brand of rock music mixed with Romanian elements must have appealed to the voters, few will disagree that it was definitely Granny who clinched the band 148 points across Europe to secure 6th place. Music Video PV8_OtAyFT0 Love it
October 1, 200717 yr That song was on BBC1 last night on Michael Palin's New Europe... He was visiting Moldova and this band (and granny) were playing the song acoustically to a small crowd... It was rather random
October 1, 200717 yr Author That song was on BBC1 last night on Michael Palin's New Europe... He was visiting Moldova and this band (and granny) were playing the song acoustically to a small crowd... It was rather random I realised I missed that about an hour after it was on!! If anybody finds it on Youtube, stick it up :D

BELARUS 2007 - Koldun - Work Your Magic In a year of rock, jazz, opera, ethnic ballads, drag queens and blues, very few songs played it safe with the "classic Eurovision" formula. This song from Belarus did, and it paid off. Belarus were one of very few countries never to make it outside the semi-final since their debut, but Russian Idol winner Dmitry Koldun changed that. Despite performing very early on in the semi-final and the final, he sailed into the top ten to give Belarus by far their best ever result. He finished 6th with 145 points. I bet they're kicking themselves that they'll still have to qualify next year!! Music Video MvBj7lErU3o
October 3, 200717 yr Eugh I never really grew to like that song. :( Glad it under achieved in the final tbh. :D
October 4, 200717 yr 28. BELARUS 2007 - Koldun - Work Your Magic I bet they're kicking themselves that they'll still have to qualify next year!! Music Video MvBj7lErU3o Bulgaria will be too  Koldun's song is pure class, my 2nd fave song from this years contest, the instrumentation is like a Bond theme...I love it  I actually had money on it to win because I thought he'd get all of Dima Bilan's votes plus the fact that its a far better song
October 4, 200717 yr Nooooooo, Never Let You Go is far better than Work Your Magic  And let's not forget that Koldun is nowhere near as dishy as Dima Bilan :(
October 4, 200717 yr Nooooooo, Never Let You Go is far better than Work Your Magic  And let's not forget that Koldun is nowhere near as dishy as Dima Bilan :( Agreed on both accounts. :drama:
October 4, 200717 yr Didn't think it wouldn't be included, IIRC he's had some songs with Timbaland production recently, and I don't think he does that for one-hit wonders :heehee:
October 8, 200717 yr Sahlene deserved top 3 She did make the Top 3 - Estonia and the United Kingdom both finished third, but Estonia was placed higher on account of getting two 12s (Sweden and Latvia) whereas we only got Austria's 12.
October 8, 200717 yr Author She did make the Top 3 - Estonia and the United Kingdom both finished third, but Estonia was placed higher on account of getting two 12s (Sweden and Latvia) whereas we only got Austria's 12. Exactly...she got Top 3 and deserved it...didn't he say that? Welcome by the way :P

October 8, 200717 yr Author Interesting chart u got here going on BUT quite slow moving...maybe 5 songs a day would be good. True. Hard to keep up the motivation for the 40 songs! But I shall try my best... Although maybe it would be better to keep it going until the Eurovision season properly starts up in December

SWITZERLAND 2005 - Vanilla Ninja - Cool Vibes Estonian band Vanilla Ninja formed in 2002, and have enjoyed success throughout Europe, especially in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In 2005, using a tactic the Swiss use quite alot, with mixed results, they were recruited to represent the country at Eurovision. Coming from the semi-final, they had 10/1 odds of winning, and despite leading the scores up to half way through the Contest, they only finished 8th, but have continued success on the continent, even attempting to enter in 2007 for Estonia. October 8, 200717 yr Cool Vibes is an excellent song. :D I quite like the pace it's going at too tbh. Nicely spread out imo.
October 9, 200717 yr Cool Vibes was 2005's best song in my opinion...so edgy but great...I wasn't happy when it came in 8th after leading...And the girls weren't bad to look at either :)
