October 10, 200717 yr Napoleon's real mistake was trying to invade Russia, that's what did for him more than anything.... Same thing happened to Hitler....  and it was the ENGLISH that beat them on both counts... russia didnt beat hitler nor napoleon, we did.
October 10, 200717 yr yeah lets get rid of the police... freedom for terrorists, criminals and scumbags to run riot, great country that would be..... <_< Sorry to butt in but they already are pretty much.
October 10, 200717 yr Sorry to butt in but they already are pretty much. Nah, that aint really true Clare, it's the false impression given out by the media... I've lived in TWO pretty high crime spots in London (Hackney and Camden), and frankly, I've seen nowt, nada, nichts, nothing, zip.. I dont live in "constant fear" either... I just go about my business..... It's easy to be paranoid about these things if you allow yourself to be... If I can handle it living in the "crime ridden slum" that is London, I really dunno where Leafy Suburban Boy Rob's problems are stemming from tbh....

Everyday in the paper (in Derby) there is a pervert who gets his hands slapped and getting just over (if that) a year in prison and murders are in there as well. Rob's seen his street change he's just worried about the gang of kids that have made their way to his street, it's like they have formed there over night he says lol. God help him if he was to move house to a town... This is a different topic really I'm picking at the justic system.

A lot of that is down to the fact that prisons are over-crowded, and that the Govt has not created anything like enough prison places to cope, hence, shorter sentences.... As much as I loathe him and his Party, at least David Cameron came up with a sensible idea last week - build more prisons instead of investing in foolish schemes such as ID cards which do precisely nothing to combat crime or punish the guilty.... Rob's just getting old, moaning about "gangs of bloody kids" is summat my dad used to do.....  There's always been, and there always will be gangs of "bloody kids"... I bet when me and my mates were playing around when I was a kid, there was Rob moaning about us "bloody kids"......

I bet when me and my mates were playing around when I was a kid, there was Rob moaning about us "bloody kids"...... scott.... ive lived here 21 years, theres NEVER been gangs of kids apart from the ones who live on our street. these are a new phenomina as chellaston has trippled in size in the last 7 years due to loads of new housing. the kids causing the trouble are off the new 'posh' estates. there was NEVER regular police patrols, never a riot van, nowt. this is very intimidating for the old who live here.

I haven't seen any riot vans... They come from Allenton, that's why they go at near enought 11 it's for the last bus home.
October 10, 200717 yr I haven't seen any riot vans... They come from Allenton, that's why they go at near enought 11 it's for the last bus home. they come in a riot van every fri/sat night... :)

Then just get rid lol :D I can see why you'd agree, that is a good idea but when do good ideas happen really, they have to make out one idea is 10x better than one that could actually benifit us.... I didn't hang around the street tho I just went to beach at night and stuff, also I was out in clubs at 15 so I had something to do. You can make something to like get a job like I did at 15 which ment I could go out and do something.
October 10, 200717 yr they come in a riot van every fri/sat night... :) I did work friday and sat nights so I might have missed it.
October 10, 200717 yr I did work friday and sat nights so I might have missed it. you must have! it was out with a fire engine, top of our street on saturday night... just after i left you in the crown.. :)
October 10, 200717 yr you must have! it was out with a fire engine, top of our street on saturday night... just after i left you in the crown.. :) Nope can't say I did. There was once tho when I asked you to pick me up, where police cars where chasing chavs, but that's about it...
October 10, 200717 yr mmmm maybe the breakdown in society values is due to thatcher saying community didn't exist and the fact that successive governments have done nothing to make people part of society, and promoted consumerism and greed. Maybe if they had tried to promote equality, and tried to stem the 'I want it now' society we would have less crime and more social cohesion. Building more prisons isn't going to stop crime, and anyway according to some surveys more crime goes unreported than reported, so how are you going to keep 'criminals' out of prison when their crimes aren't even reported Which also indicates the lack of faith a large portion of our society have in the police......... October 11, 200717 yr scott.... ive lived here 21 years, theres NEVER been gangs of kids apart from the ones who live on our street. these are a new phenomina as chellaston has trippled in size in the last 7 years due to loads of new housing. the kids causing the trouble are off the new 'posh' estates. there was NEVER regular police patrols, never a riot van, nowt. this is very intimidating for the old who live here. Sounds to me like a case of bad planning... But what are you gonna do...? More people = more housing being necessary, it's an unfortunate fact of life I'm afraid.. And what is it these kids are actually doing...? Being loud, annoying, obnoxious...? If those were criminal offences then the sale of Mariah Carey records would be banned...  Still what you're describing does go some of the way to explaining your growing reactionary attitude... To me, it's water off a duck's back tbh, I've lived in London for 5 years, kinda gotten used to it now tbh... I actually get a bit freaked out when I go back to Dundee and it's so bloody quiet.....

October 12, 200717 yr just general teen stuff, noise, grouping, litter, minor offences... In other words, just like the sort of stuff you probably got up to.... :P
October 12, 200717 yr In other words, just like the sort of stuff you probably got up to.... :P well...yes, but not in such numbers, there were few of us, half a dozen or so, these guys dont live here, there are far bigger groups, plus in my day there wasnt teenage (under 16) drug taking, drinking, sex, muggings, knife carrying... like there is now.
October 14, 200717 yr The wording of this topic is wrong - because they are not spying on us - they wont read our messages - they will only know where and what time we sent them etc and how many
