Behind both, which it shold be. He has to put a lot of effort into it but, if it ever became his top priority, he'd have lost an awful lot.

Sorry to sound a bit negative with the career comment but a couple of nights ago was watching the film Stardust starring david essex as Jim Maclaine from theStray cats. Adam faith played his manager and what a good actor he turned out to be. Anyway Jim maclaine after leaving stray cats and going solo and becoming extremely successful, disappeared for three years to a castle in europe. Adam faith as his manager went beserk and he said you have fans to think of and you must throw them a bone at some time and you must make some appearances because there are lots of other up and coming kids and you can sink without trace. Jim maclaine eventually agreed to do a tv interview at the castle but rambled during the interview, collapsed and died. Of its time it was a good film 1974.

The bit about the bone and the appearances stuck in my mind but then other stars combine the family and a career successfully.

Yes, but I do like Darius and this is part of him, running enthusiastically with things and then being distracted. He may take side turns but he's still doing the album. Major fame has never been what he's aiming for, since he got it out of his system in his mid teens. He wants to live, enjoy life and sing, write and perform and, that's what he's doing. This is Darius, I do want more but I'll just have to moan about it while I wait. I'd hate him to jump before he's ready just in case everyone has disappeared.

Or is this that Darius shouldn't come back - and when he does, he shouldn't give interviews in Scottish castles as it'll have dire consequences?

No I wasnt thinking of that scenario at all but I do think the other facts apply especially as he is out of the country a majority of the time and therefore is not able to take advantage of certain engagements that may crop up enabling him to perform in the U.K.(there must have been offers surely) maybe he is taking advantage of engagements that crop up in L.A.

I think he's just been writing and recording - and travelling to different studios. He was in the Uk for over 3months this summer even without the latest stint. I'd like to hear a few more of his rejects to keep me going.

I think we should still warn him to stay away from Scottish castles though.

Well, as long as he doesn't do interviews. Preston told you what happened to Jim Maclaine .

There was a castle somewhere behind us in Lincoln too, was there not? I think a castle is a perfect setting for Big D.

I seem to also remember a T4 interview in a Scottish castle with Miquita and Steve Jones. It was very entertaining. I think I still have it on video somewhere.

It's a shame we didn't get talking. We ended up back at the hotel watching the video of Darius performing until about 3 i the morning. That was a really good day.

I think I glimpsed you and Pam. I knew round about where you were, but getting through was an impossibility.

I wasn't remotely interested in what was under Steve's kilt, but I think it was shortbread.

Thank you that's the first daylight picture I've seen of it. I remember being so impressed when I looked at it, silhouetted against the night sky.

We tried to come over to you to get into Darius but the crowd had chairs, tables and all sorts so we had to give up and go the other way. We did come out your way though. Did you come for drink to the pub? It's awful, I can't remember who did/didn't. It was a bit crowded in there.
No, the pub was the last thing on our minds. I was with Helen and her family and she was called over the tannoy because her youngest had injured himself.
