October 5, 200717 yr Why do people call her diva like it's some sort of glamorous tag? IT'S NOT A GOOD THING. Um, the term can be used in a good or bad way. It was first used to describe really good female opera singers & then was used to describe talented female singers, which grew to also mean "great, popular female singer" ... It can also be used in a negative way like it is for Diana Ross (arrogant, demanding, 'up herself', etc). OBVIOUSLY I'm not using the term negatively when I'm talking about Jamelia.
October 5, 200717 yr Actually, diva isn't a bad thing at all. The definition of "diva" is "An operatic prima donna" or "A very successful singer of nonoperatic music" - therefore good. The common use of the word actually has no relevance to the actual meaning of the word :)
