October 2, 200717 yr Sweden didn't deserve to win again (12 victories to date!). UK, Spain, Greece and Germany were far better. I knew Portugal wouldn't stand a chance but at least I thought it would do better than Israel.
October 2, 200717 yr Oh i love that Sweden song does that mean it will automatically be in the Melodifestivalen next year???? COOL!! :B
October 2, 200717 yr Oh i love that Sweden song does that mean it will automatically be in the Melodifestivalen next year???? COOL!! :B Umm...no it doesn't quite work like that.... It's just a bit of fun :P Edited October 2, 200717 yr by Peter30
October 2, 200717 yr Isn't this voted by the ESC fan clubs around Europe? The "regular viewers" have usually totally different opinions (usually the songs that do well in the real comp are hated by the fan clubs) so probably the songs that did well in this comp would have bombed in the real competition.
October 3, 200717 yr Author Cyndi! She would have done so well. I doubt it...I still think she would have come 15-20th
October 3, 200717 yr I doubt it...I still think she would have come 15-20th Really? :o I reckon top ten FOR SURE. Such a nice tune, and would've got many of Molitva's votes from the non-Serbian speaking people I think. SILLY BRITONS SENDING SCOOCH. -_-
October 3, 200717 yr Author Really? :o I reckon top ten FOR SURE. Such a nice tune, and would've got many of Molitva's votes from the non-Serbian speaking people I think. SILLY BRITONS SENDING SCOOCH. -_- But we cant forget about political voting :( Its not a winning song...I feel that in the future the UK will either have a big win with a sensational song or be languishing in the bottom 10 every year
October 3, 200717 yr But we cant forget about political voting :( Its not a winning song...I feel that in the future the UK will either have a big win with a sensational song or be languishing in the bottom 10 every year Ooh what a thing to say Rich. :o I thought you were one of the "political voting doesn't exist" people? :o I sure don't believe it plays much/any of a part in the contest. B)
October 3, 200717 yr If Cyndi had got in she would have been completely overshadowed by "Molitva" which would have been two songs before it. She may have done well otherwise but I'd say Top 15 at the highest. However, the good thing about Scooch being chosen is that had Verka been sandwiched between Marija and Cyndi, the monstrosity of a song would have won!!
October 3, 200717 yr But we cant forget about political voting :( Its not a winning song...I feel that in the future the UK will either have a big win with a sensational song or be languishing in the bottom 10 every year I don't think it is so much about political/neighbourly voting but instead diaspora voting (the immigrants voting in a new country their old native country). So Eastern European poor countries and Turkey have a huge advantage over Western European countries therefore.
October 3, 200717 yr Omg I always thought Cara Mia sounded eurovisiony  I CANT BELIEVE IT DIDNT MAKE IT  Its the best song this year from Eurovision
October 4, 200717 yr Author Ooh what a thing to say Rich. :o I thought you were one of the "political voting doesn't exist" people? :o I sure don't believe it plays much/any of a part in the contest. B) Perhaps I was too naive in the past...but sitting through 5 consecutive contests of the UK doing badly as well as the Dance Contest where the UK came second to last you have to ask yourself...are we really that bad. All the jokey songs were one thing but surely Javine should have come at least in the top 15 in 2005???
October 4, 200717 yr Perhaps I was too naive in the past...but sitting through 5 consecutive contests of the UK doing badly as well as the Dance Contest where the UK came second to last you have to ask yourself...are we really that bad. All the jokey songs were one thing but surely Javine should have come at least in the top 15 in 2005??? Hmm well maybe I'm still kidding myself too. BUT, we did do remarkably well in the JESC in 2003 and 2004. And I still think we've sent poor choices since 2003. Jemini and Scooch were just $h!te, James Fox and Javine were overshadowed by far better songs of their respective genres and Daz Sampson well... he's not really ESC material. :( Loved Daz though.
October 4, 200717 yr Author Daz was immense and should have at least gone top 10 :( Teenage Life is genius... The JESC results is the only thing that still gives me hope but even since that the number of Eastern Bloc countries has massively increased making it even harder for us to get points Not even necessarily because of political voting but for the fact that an act that's big in Croatia may also be well known is Bosnia-Herzegovina...
October 4, 200717 yr I really don't think political voting has anything to do with the UK's bad results. However, when you start to see that the rest of Western Europe are filling the bottom places you start to wonder.... I mean the UK's songs have been bad, but the entire west side of Europe haven't had bad songs
