Rather a nice little interview from yesterday's Times here: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol...?Submitted=true

I understand what she's saying here, too, about the soulless acrobatics of the likes of Dion and Carey.... spot on..

"Music at the moment is so dominated by R&B that people don’t understand melody,” she says. “They see holding a note as a kind of blankness, devoid of passion – because they see passion as just acrobatic vocal scales. But all that stuff is like having sex and watching yourself in the mirror at the same time. You’re not really involved in the moment, you’re just checking to see what your silhouette looks like.”

Alison Moyet - One More Time (live on the Paul O'Grady show)

I have bought the album, The Turn and it is a brilliant stunning album, with fantastic vocals by one of Britain's Greatest ever female singers. Good to see her still working with Pete Glenister and fantastic use of the LSO.

One thing is certain, there is more warmth & depth to any of these tracks than you will find on the debut Leona Lewis album.

Moyet's as popular as bad breath on Buzzjack - but I agree, tip - The Turn is stunning stuff.

World Without End, Can't Say It Like I Mean It (should've been single number one), Sharpest Corner, Fire, The Man In The Wings - top notch songwriting (they all sound like standards).... and a voice to positively melt you..... quite why she's been ignored by radio and large sections of the record buying public will always be a mystery to me.

Perhaps she's tainted by her commercial 80s stuff? Her refusal to play the 'star' game? Whatever it is, ok, I'm a fan - but a critical one at that, but The Turn.... it's a masterpiece, a true gem.

One bum note, though - the next single is A Guy Like You...hmm.... not keen.

I agree, that would be a wrong move, that track is best left tagged on the end sounding like an outtake from an aborted attempt at making a contemporary commercial album in 2007.

But the rest of the album makes it a very strong contender for my 2nd favourite album of 2007 (behind Arcade Fire - Neon Bible).

Have you heard the i-Tunes-only bonus track, Senses? Apparently superb....

The Turn was originally recorded with the Insects, who also did Hometime.... a friend of mine played drums and said the Bristol sessions were far superior to the released versions - I'd love to hear them.

The Almighty have done the remixes of A Guy Like You - so that kind of ensures it'll be big in the gay clubs, I suppose, if nothing else.

It's a beautiful body of work - she must be gutted it charted at a lowly 21 this week :(

‘The Almighty’? The heavy metal/hard rock group that was signed to Chrysalis Records in the 1990s? Surely it is not them? If so, have they done a ‘Darkness’ type of remix?

hehe - no, not them - Almighty are also a remix team who tend to do rather camp, commercial remixes - not the same ones. I don't think, anyway

Saw her performing the single this afternoon on ITV, was great ^_^ one of the greatest female singers imo! Doesn't get enough credit, and the album should be performing better ;)

Great great artist

I bought the album yesterday, and i agree it is very good and deserves to do better.

Hopefully the more promo she does it will climb.

I love World Without End, Can't Say It and Fire - but The Sharpest Corner is the stand-out track for me - pretty incredible, vocally and lyrically.
