Posted October 3, 200717 yr A friend just told me The 02 are wanting ID so they can check at the concerts that the person using the tickets bought them? Has anyone heard anything about this or is it just a rumour/wind up... I'm really concerned as my tickets are in my Mums name and she's not coming down for the show. Surely putting such a check in place would cause SO many problems and a lot of anger on the night and those who did sell on tickets, not to make profit, would be unfairly targeted? Seriously any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm proper panicking - it seems to be issue after issue with these tickets. :(
October 3, 200717 yr I think if the surname is the same then it should be fine. I used my mum's card, but the tickets should be in my name... I'll take ID anyway, and if my mum's name is on there then I'll take her bank card!
October 3, 200717 yr Author But what happens if we gave tickets to our friends and aren't going with them? I can't go December 15th but my friend Caz took my seats. What happens then... it's absurd. I see no confirmation either about this. Tried ringing 02/Ticketmaster but lines just shut.
October 3, 200717 yr Hope it's not the case cuz I will be selling 2 tickets for Dec 18th!! I don't think they will check ID. They often threaten too, but it is impractical to do it - the girls would be playing to half empty stadiums and the O2 have nothing to lose if they let people in without ID - they earn revenue in food, drink & Merch sales.
October 3, 200717 yr Author Mel, that was exactly my thinking. The 02 Arena would lose so much custom it just wouldn't be worth it. I've never experienced an ID check at 02, not even at Indig02 where there is an 18+ requirement.
October 3, 200717 yr I hope this is the case - I paid lots for my tickets and people selling them is silly its suppose to be exclusive I hope they do check them although i dont get it if you brought tickets for your mates? there surname wont be on there
October 3, 200717 yr Author It stopped being exclusive as soon as more than about 4 London dates were added... and everyone paid lots for their tickets, especially those that bought inflated price ones off ebay. Imagine how annoyed they'd be to find at the venue that couldn't get in... Yeah I bought some for my friend as she never received the code and couldn't get online. I booked them under my name and with my card with sole purpose of passing them onto her for face value and no more. I'm not going on that date so it's not even like we can go in together, if what I've been told here is the truth. I don't see anything wrong with helping someone out like that and I don't see why she or I should suffer the consequences of a kind act.
October 3, 200717 yr Another reason it would be stupid is that in some parties people will arrive separately and meet up inside the arena. Like if people are coming from work they probably each have their ticket to go in when they can. It's not practical to do ID checking. There is nothing in it for O2 to check ID, so they won't.
October 3, 200717 yr Is this going to be for all concerts there? I have MCR at London O2 next month...
October 3, 200717 yr Author I've now been told tickets are apparently identity free, so I guess we're all sorted!
October 3, 200717 yr They can't do that, it would take hours to get ppl into the venue if they did that. It's probably something to do with picking up your tickets at the box office
October 4, 200717 yr Author Perhaps that was the case and I got a confused version of the story. Pretty sure all will be fine though! :D
October 4, 200717 yr it would take forever for them to check id - you would have to get there 2 hours earlier?

It's probably something to do with picking up your tickets at the box office If that is the case then I have a problem. I have to pick up my tickets at the box office, and I used my fathers credit card to buy my tickets. I live in Holland, obviously I can't take my father with me so if they are going to be difficult I am in deep $h!t. They better not pull this stunt because I will go absolutely mental if they do. :arrr:
October 4, 200717 yr No im sure it will be okay - They tried to make it "Exclusive" by only buying it with a code - and so they should keep to this and let it be

Then send this to TM and they will send you a letter to confirm it is ok - then take this letter from TM with you to the box office.

October 4, 200717 yr where is everyone getting this information from anyway? On the Ticket Master website. I just checked and Delta Fan is right.. Can someone else collect my tickets? Question I have bought tickets for a friend, can they collect the tickets at the box office if I give them my credit card? Answer Ticketmaster's policy is that the cardholder must be present when collecting tickets left for collection at the venue. This is necessary for reasons of fraud prevention. In some cases it may be possible for the cardholder to give the person collecting the tickets a Letter of Authorisation to pass to the venue allowing them to collect the tickets on their behalf. Please view the attached list The attached list is currently ALL the venues that WILL accept Letters of Authority. If a venue is not listed here then that venue WILL NOT accept Letters of Authority. However – at any time the venue box office or the promoter of a particular show may change their rules and stop accepting Letters of Authority and refuse entry. Ticketmaster will not accept any responsibility should this happen and Ticketmaster still advise customers that any booking made for collection should only be collected by the credit card holder.
October 4, 200717 yr where is everyone getting this information from anyway? I get it from the denden forums - forums.denden.co.uk - but it's crazy over there just to warn you before you go !
