i couldnt AGREE with you more!.... those acts were DIRE... :)

the year of 'the big change'... punk and disco exploded into mainstream , oddly these two opposite styles took off with pretty much equal vigour. ok 77 was remembered for punk, but disco too took off especially on the back of the seminal electro dance track 'i feel love'.

but i wasnt a dancer (most blokes werent) and at long last some decent, gutsy, meaningful, masculine, guitar based pop/rock was relieving me of the glam dross that i had to endure for years! punk/new wave was very similar in style to my favoured 60's sounds...so i loved it!

the best trck IMHO

jam.............. 'all around the world', loved it then love it now, their best imho.

'pretty vacant', 'god save the queen', 'something better change','gary gilmores eyes', 'london girls' (the vibrators), all good stuff.

i also liked the steve gibbons band 'tulane', a good bit of rock n roll.... gordon lightfoot 'the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald' , and thin lizzy 'dont believe a word'... 3 very different tracks but excellant ones imho.

1977 = The green shoots of recovery started thanks to the Punk & early Disco movement which saw a few classics infiltrate the charts.....
