well you gotta get the Talbot Rothwell writen ones they are the best. but by the time of Columbus he was dead

Which ones did he write? Didn't rate the early ones like Constable and Spying that highly but loved the hospial ones (Nurse, Matron) Also saw Camping in the last couple of weeks and that was great as well.

Gotta love Chales Haughtry and the guy who always plays the uptight characters like the Preacher in Khyber. He was also the Camp site owner in Camping. Was it Kenneth something.

Talbot Rothwell wrote many of the ones that get repeated on telly loads the one from the middle period in the 1960s. Norman Hudis wrote a lot of the early ones and random dudes wrote loads of the not v good ones from the arse end of the 70s. (ooh had to get my arse end in there  )

Carry on England was absolute pants. That was one of the last ones in the 70s wasn't it?

I wish Terry Scott had been in a few more of them.

well there were more sex-comedy-farce films getting big b.o. success (a big box office suck-cess!!!) so they were trying to make them obv rude so its a bit like having a stage farce where previously on the day before the vicars pants would have fallen down and the next day having him sticking his c**k in a freshly baked pie (but only having sid james do it rather than Jason Biggs  )

messed with the format

Of the early black & white films Carry On Nurse (1959) was best.

Of the classic Talbot Rothwell written period (with extra lines/jokes from Frank Muir & Denis Norden!) Carry On Cleo (1964) "infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me!"), Carry On Camping (1969) (with that famous scene featuring Barbara Windsor), Carry On Henry (1971) (the Henry VIII spoof) & Carry On Dick (1974) (the Dick Turpin spoof).

Every film afterwards, was quite frankly pants and not worthy of the franchise name.

i cant bare them now... the comedy was always very weak... comedy has moved on a long way since the carry on days so in comparison to recent comedies like green wing, father ted, etc its pretty c**p

i do like 'carry on screaming' though... thats worn well :)

I'm a big fan of all the carry on films Emmanuelle was pants, the worst of the lot. I've got the job lot on DVD, apart from Columbus

My Top 2 faves are Up The Kyber and Screaming "Frying Tonight"

Other good ones, Camping, obviously for that show stopper from Babs. Abroad again Babs, where Sid says "There's no soap on that bit" and Babs looks down at her rear

Kenneth Williams, and Sid James were so good at their comedy traits in the Carry Ons, as well as the late great Frankie Howard, shame he didn't do that many of them, I think he did 2 or 3

I could go on for hours talking about these films, another awful carry on film has to be Follow That Camel, along with England. Mind you Tigerboy has missed other films from the list.

One last note, I totally love the humour in the B/W Carry on films

the guy who always plays the uptight characters like the Preacher in Khyber. He was also the Camp site owner in Camping. Was it Kenneth something.

Peter Butterworth that was.

I love the Carry On films. When I was younger the only B/W I liked was Carry on Cabby for some reason, but I saw some of them fairly recently and I love Carry on Constable.

They tended to get worse as they went on. Carry on Emanuelle, Behind, Henry and England are all totally dodgy. 'Columbus' just doesn't even feel like one.

I probably get most pleasure from Doctor and Up the Jungle for some reason...must be Frankie Howerd, and I'm not even that fond of his humour normally. Also a great guest appearance from Harry H Corbett in Screaming.

That is one of the best of the ‘Carry On’ films, some great innuendo and in-jokes too.

Also I think it was Peter Butterworth’s son Tyler who was the alien in ‘Mike & Angelo’.
