Posted October 9, 200717 yr after the recent death of tv theme king 'ronnie hazelhurst' its come to my attention that maybe he wasnt the king of tv themes... whilst hazelhurst composed rather 'twee' themes (mind you, 'sorry' was great!) grainer was mr cool of tv themes not only was he responsable for dr who (gotta be the most anthemic tv theme ever), but steptoe and son, paul temple, maigret, boy meets girl, that was the week that was, but also charted in '78 with 'a touch of velvet, a sting of brass', used by dlt (for his silly dooby dooby doo's). pinched by the northern soul crowd. http://www.rongrainer.org.uk/index.php njCwxpp5CcQ
October 9, 200717 yr I liked the prisoner theme by him and Doctor who. My other favourite composer is John Barry known mostly for movies, but I did like the theme for the Persuaders.
October 10, 200717 yr Author I liked the prisoner theme by him and Doctor who. My other favourite composer is John Barry known mostly for movies, but I did like the theme for the Persuaders. i bought the theme from 'the persuaders', roger moor and tony curtis doing their 'bond' bit, the flip was 'the girl with the sun in her hair' used in an advert for sunsilk hair shampoo
October 10, 200717 yr Don't forget that he also did 'Man in a Suitcase' which was nicked (and is unfortunately now best remembered) as the theme to Chris Evans' TFI Friday.

Actually Ron's version was a cover of the original 1966 version by Mood-Mosaic This original version was the theme tune to Germany's Beat Club show in the 60s & 70s(their answer to TOTP - but featured 99% UK & US acts). The links is that DLT was one of the presenters of Beat Club That original version is HERE Edited October 10, 200717 yr by Euro Music

The links is that DLT was one of the presenters of Beat Club ahhhh! i thought so! i remember dlt telling us what it was and who by, we had it on monday night at the pop quiz and i was surprised that it was ron grainger.... mind you, he did have several pseudonyms in the 60's, are you sure 'mood mosaic' wasnt one of them? graingers version played on monday was i thought the original, or did dlt use graingers version ? i took it for granted that dlt played the original.
