Other artists in the year included - America - A horse with no name, David Bowie - Starman, Eric Clapton - Layla, ELO - 10538 Overture, Hawkwind - Silver machine, Don McLean - American pie, Melanie - Brand new key, Mott the Hoople - all the young dudes, Move - California man, Gilbert O’Sullivan - Alone again naturally, Roxy Music - Virginia plain, Ringo Starr - Back of boogaloo, Sweet - Little Willy, 10CC - Donna, Wizard - Ball park incident, Argent - Hold your head up The 2 biggest acts of the year were T Rex and Slade.
