Considering the actress is ill in real life, I thought her ending was touching and understated. It very much reminded me of the way Derek Hilton & Hilda Ogden were written out of the show with similar "is that it?" type endings. At least it is a damn sight more realistic of real life to those of us who have lost loved ones....

I have to agree, I thought it was very moving.

Coronation Street producers are looking for a new love for Jack Duckworth, a report has claimed.

Show boss Kim Crowther will lead a meeting this week to make a decision after the character's wife Vera died on Friday, according to the People.

A source told the paper: "Friday's episode was a blockbuster but the powers-that-be now need to find Jack a new love interest.

"He has always prided himself on being bone idle at home so he'll be totally lost without Vera."

Bookmakers have also opened books on the subject, with Betty Williams the 2-1 favourite and Doreen Fenwick next at 3-1.

i still think the second episode was MUCH better than the first...i just think they could easily have cut all the c**p from both episodes with michelle/david/tina 'chav'/and the factory girls and given the episode more to jack and vera, i would have a dot style two hander instead of the rubbish corrie chose to show instead.

i thought vera got a decent exit, and i do admit to crying a little, but the rest of the episode was a let down, i dont care about michelle/steve finding ryan, or vicki's naff knicker party, Corrie gave Alma a great episode when she went, why couldnt they have done the same here and given us more jack and vera, very annoyed, am not watching corrie for rest of 2008!!!!

but good luck to liz dawn anyway in the future!!!!

I thought friday's episodes were great. Really moving. OK, so the death wasnt fabulous, but I cried like a baby throughout most the episodes, and yes I'm not ashamed to admit it, I cried when Vera Duckworth died......hey I even have a photo with her!

I havent been watching it much, but the whole Liam and Carla thing is getting on my nerves now, and so is michelle.

What's going to happen to Jack now? Is he staying?

Apparently, to show his undying love for Tina, David Platt is going to have her name tattooed on the delicate flesh of his chest. You can only imagine how Gail is going to react to that.

But does it have the desired effect on Tina? Sadly not. "It’s disgusting and a turn-off. You look like a painted freak!” she tells him, in her usual blunt fashion. Poor David.

Haha that David story sounds f***in hilarious.

Vera's death meanwhile got...

7.30pm: 12.4m / 51% :o

8.30pm: 11.6m / 46%

51% is excellent news. :D

Poor Veraaaaaaaa ! lol, tonights should be good
anyone know when this baby-swap storyline ends? i'm bored. does he turn out to be her kid?

I reckon the rumour about Jack's new love interest will turn out to be fake LOL,

they would never give him another partner now :P

i hope they don't.
