JACK P Shepherd narrowly escaped serious injury after a car mowed him down during a tricky stunt sequence this week.

The Corrie actor, 20, who plays evil teen David Platt, intended to brush against the speeding car but he slipped into the vehicle’s path and was sent sprawling.

The scenes, airing in March, see David running away from the Street after pushing his mum Gail down the stairs.

SPOILER 2

AH, the paw little lad. Coronation Street cutie Chesney (Sam Aston) cuddles up to his best pal, Schmeichel, before the lad is taken away to a care home.

The Street’s abandoned 11-year-old has been besotted with the Great Dane – named after former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter.

The boy received his four-legged friend as a gift four years ago.

Chesney gives him a massive hug when Kirk (Andy Whyment) pays him a visit.

The heartbreaking scenes air on the ITV1 soap next month.

Old Rovers and Revamped Rovers :o

Yesterday we reported the shock news that wee Chesney is going to be taken into care, and be parted from his beloved Schmeichel.

The Daily Star has got more information today, and it reveals that the cause of the problem is rats. Chesney and Kirk try to deal with the infestation themselves, baiting traps with cheese and peanut butter, but the sneaky rodents snap up the goodies and don't get trapped.

When Norris pops round to find out why there's been a bit of a commotion at the house, Chesney pretends he's doing a school project on mice. But rats will be rats, and it's not long before they move into adjoining houses, and the true extent of the pigsty at number 5 Coronation Street is discovered. Poor Chesney ends up in a childrens' home.

I loved it tonight :o bar Alex's appearance  can't they leave Michelles c**p storyline out for one night. Other than that the Maria/Carla rivalry was excellent

I actually felt sorry for Carla. And I think she's right - Liam has made the biggest mistake of his life! Maria is what you would call, in the words of old Ivy Tilsley (God rest her soul), a right Nelly-wet-drawers.

But if you had as many doubts about a bloke's fidelity as Maria does, and were as obviously insecure - you really wouldn't go ahead with the wedding. I mean - if the future arrival of a baby isn't going to deter Carla .... I doubt very much that a band of gold will stand in her way!

Carla is ace :smoke: too good for scabby Liam anyway......i was kinda hoping she would throw Maria out the window or summin but meh the ep was ok....

Carla and Dev would make a good couple. I must admit - I'm really starting to like Dev now! He's turned into a sort of 'Jason King of the Cobbles'.

I didn't like Sunita I'm afraid. Ivy's 'Nelly Wet Drawers' tag could be equally applied to her! No - footloose-and-fancy-free Dev is much funnier! He almost copped off with Kelly tonight!

What I thought about last nights pathetic episode

Now Marcus! I nipped over to the neutral Emmerdale forum to read your little critique of Coronation Street! Like most Coronation Street fans, I have a good sense of humour and am of a sunny disposition and therefore I see the funniness in your remarks! Especially about Maria because as much as I like Corrie - she really gets on my wick!

Now if I was an old sourpuss like a certain someone on the Eastenders forum - you would be severely castigated for your remarks. As it is ... Hello Marcus! Nice to meet you!

Did anyone else notice that she only suddenly went from being thin one day to being huge the next

And :o How cruel is this

Coronation Street has been a more tranquil place since David Platt met Tina McIntyre, but we knew it wasn't a good idea to relax too soon.

According to the Daily Star, David (Jack P Shepherd) is set to crank his evil ways up to a new level when he pushes Gail down the stairs. And this isn't an accidental push - a "Corrie insider" says, "[David]literally throws Gail down the stairs and she is knocked out cold." The reason for this behaviour is that Tina aborts the baby she's expecting, without telling David she's pregnant. When he overhears Gail and Tina talking about it, he sees red and blames her. “These are some of the most dramatic scenes of the year," says the insider. "David’s rage is off the dial. Normally he takes his time plotting revenge on his enemies but on this occasion he snaps."

Gail recovers from her physical injuries, apparently, but her memory is affected, and David takes advantage of this to play evil mind games with her. Echoes of Richard Hillman there.

Martin

is apparently returning so this could bring him back.
