How fabulous was Corrie tonight? The whole George meeting with the Barlows ... and assuming Blanche was Ken's wife. Blanche (about Deirdre) .... 'and this is Edna ... our cleaning lady'.

Back to the Roy / Tony story. I think the writers have done a really great job of digging themselves out of a quandarry. I don't think they realised how popular Tony's character has become with the Corrie audience. But Corrie - having 'morals' on its side ... Tony has to face the music ... so how can they make the audience hate him? The only way they can get the audience to turn against him is to have him threaten Roy. We can forgive him for killing 'dull as ditchwater' Liam ... but making him put one of the Street's best loved characters (and one of its best actors) in danger ... well its like a red rag to a bull.

Even little Simon got to get a juicy line in that 'There's two of them ... like in Dr Who'.

And how could I forget Graeme's 'crack ho' thing!

I love Corrie when it gets it right ... all the comedy offset the fairly boring Gail/Joe storyline.

That looked really scary last night, Roy just being stood there starring into Tony's window

tbh i thought that was utter pants, who tf in real life would do that in the pouring rain at that time of night?...

To be honest ... it was actually in keeping with Roy's character. True to form ... Corrie has never (probably due to the insistance of David Nielsen) tampered with Roy's character. He has remained this 'oddball' from the very first time we saw him ... with his grey tote bag and his key on a long chain! Roy is the kind of person who would do this sort of thing ... he's trying to force Tony to confess to the authorities. Roy is noble and in an ideal world it would be a better place if everything was as honest as simple, even as childlike, as Roy would wish it to be.

Anyway ... its reveal time next week ... Friday should be a killer double-bill!

Another thing, at first I thought Roy stood there was just Tony's imagination, maybe it would have been better for him to turn to Maria and then to turn back for Roy to have gone.

This is from 4th December coming up

Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) challenges Steve (Simon Gregson) to another golf game. Steve accepts the chance to redeem himself and they bump into Bernie (Jennifer Hennessey) at the golf club with another client. Dev recognises Matt (Chris Colquahoun) as a business acquaintance and is interested to hear he is newly engaged. Matt however seems reluctant to stay and chat

I'm guessing this "Matt" is newly engaged to Sunita?

Tony is going to be pierced by his conscience isn't he?

.... im not overly accepting of this storyline, i still think roys suspicions were ill founded and far better explained away by drugs/semi consciousness... its getting all abit silly tbh.

looks like eastenders production got in on the act, it was very poorly executed last night... apart from a 'bat expert' getting the bats name WRONG! (pipistrelle, not pipistrellie), canals are not 'bottomless pits'... you can stand upright in most of them.. as for tony diving in to the pitch black cold water and actually finding roy... well it makes daftenders depearture by boat scene almost credible...

in all... a big let down.

Kim Crowther announced the following in a web chat last night, some of it looks pretty promising.

-Auntie Pam is going to be much more involved in the Molly/Kevin storyline.

-Carla's demons will catch up with her!

-Big plans for Claire and Ashley apparently

-There may be some exciting returning cast new year....

-David will try to the right hing and get into the middle of a big drama

-SOME VERY EXCITING DEATHS!

-New Nick is much harder and more determined to get what he wants

-Garry is in a big story next year where we find out what frightens the character!

-we shall be seeing some more of Tony!

-Janice has got a really fun and poignant story coming up

-little simon in a very big story next year....

-Garry is in a big story next year where we find out what frightens the character!

I actually really like the Garry Windass character (in fact I like the whole clan ... the mother is especially interesting). I like Garry's relationship with Gail's dad. I think Corrie gets the adult/kids relationships spot-on.

Kim Crowther leaving :w00t: Thank f***.

Being replaced by former Doctor Who series producer Phil Collinson in the second half of next year, just a few months before the show's 50th anniversary celebrations.
