October 15, 200717 yr Led Zep go digital Classics will be available for download BBC6 MUSIC NEWS 15 October 07 - Led Zeppelin are about to walk the stairway to the digital world. Warner Music Group will soon be making the legendary rock outfit’s entire catalogue available to download starting on 13 November. The band are one of the last major acts to hold out on digital distribution, with pretty much just The Beatles left now. Ben Drury from 7 Digital, a site which already features downloads from George Harrison and John Lennon says this is a massive result for fans, and admits there’s a good reason why it may have taken so long to happen: “Over the years they negotiate very specific contracts with the major record labels which allowed them a lot more say in how their music is used, my guess is they had one of these deals, and management were holding back and holding back, waiting to negotiate better rates for the band.” Led Zeppelin has also signed a separate deal with Verizon Wireless to offer their songs as ringtones and downloads to mobile phones They will reform for a one-off performance on 26 November at London’s O2 Arena to salute Atlantic Records co-founder and chairman emeritus Ahmet Ertegun, who died last December. Can any of you see Led Zeppelin finally have some chart success 30+ years after there heyday?
