The award, which recognizes global success in the music industry, has previously been won by artists such as Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Elton John and Luciano Pavarotti. (Isaac Brekken/Canadian Press) Prince Albert of Monaco will present the Quebec-born star with the award on Nov. 4, during the 18th World Music Awards ceremony. In 2004, Dion earned a Diamond Award at the WMAs for selling more than 100 million albums worldwide. One of Quebec's most beloved stars, Dion has agreed to perform next summer on the Plains of Abraham as part of Quebec City's 400th anniversary celebrations. She is scheduled to perform what will likely be a free concert on Aug. 22, 2008. Dion is also to be recognized by the state of Nevada, where she has performed since March 2003 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. She has been named Entertainer of the New Millennium by the Nevada Tourism Commission and will receive that award Dec. 13, just two days before her final performance of A New Day in Las Vegas.
