Re: the ‘Betty Boo’ thread

I was reading the free newspaper this morning when I noticed an article in the gossip pages that regarded a couple of members of the pop group ‘Girls Aloud’; and a “1980s pop star” turned songwriter who we all know and love as ‘Betty Boo’.

Whilst the article seamed to me like an excuse to print a colour photo of the group’s Cheryl Cole and Sarah Hardman, the text was actually about an argument that had happened between Cole and Clarkson.

Without going into all the tedious details it seemed that Clarkson had become one of ‘Girls Aloud’ songwriters and had accidentally revealed some secret project details to the anger of Cole. The paper featured a number of quotes that were ‘allegedly’ taken from Cole saying that no one knows who ‘Betty Boo’ is, that she is rubbish and that Clarkson is using these ‘false secrets’ for her own publicity.

As you may know, there is a new ‘Betty Boo’ record that has been released this week and even though I have never heard the record or actually know what it is called, I would like to see ‘Betty Boo’ back in the UK singles chart. I think it would be nice to see her name in the Top 40 after all these years and actually I think it would be preferable to seeing ‘Girls Aloud’ all the time. I do not know what everybody’s opinions would be but I think I would be not the only one, so does anybody else agree?

Which Betty Boo single? Where? How? I'd rather have Betty Boo back than another lacklustre GA single or electrofied cover.

I do not know what it is called as I only briefly looked at the single in the shop. I think it is on the ‘Gut Records’ records label, though they might have gone back to having a one label for one act policy (‘Tug’ for ‘Right Said Fred’, ‘Hug’ for Stan’s ‘Suntan’, ‘Bubblin’ for ‘Aswad’ and so on)

This new Betty Boo single.....

Jack Rokka Vs Betty Boo - Take Off [Remix] (2007)

... Pity it is not a very good dance track.

I'd rather remember her in her former glory days....

Betty Boo - Doin The Do (1990)

Betty Boo - Where Are You Baby (1990)

But the dumper soon beckoned....

Betty Boo - I'm On My Way (1993)

Was never a big fan of Betty Boo's music. She previously co wrote pure & simple for Hear'say

Were ‘Hear’say’ and ‘Girls Aloud’ created on the same ‘Popstars’ show or was one an ‘Idol’ group? I cannot remember as all these ‘X-Factor’ shows look the same to me. If they both came from the same show, are they both associated with Simon Fuller and does that mean that Betty Boo is managed by ‘19’ as well?
