Reinventing Elvis: The American Sound Studios Sessions

It was bitter cold the evening of January 13, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee. Producer Chips Moman and the searing band of musicians he had assembled at American Sound Studios were waiting the arrival of Elvis Presley ... In twelve days, he cut thirty-six sides. Four of them were singles - 'In the Ghetto,' 'Suspicious Minds,' 'Don't Cry Daddy,' and 'Kentucky Rain,' and all but the last were gold, even though Kentucky Rain was a substantial hit. And the two albums that came out of it [From Elvis in Memphis and From Memphis to Vegas/From Vegas to Memphis] went platinum.

I absolutely love the tracks that came out of American Sound, Chips and Felton were really good for Elvis  and the final paragraph sums it all up

But the American sessions stand as a personal triumph for Elvis, a performer at a turning point, an artist who that Winter in Memphis, was again sharp, eager, and alive. And the music he created there will always prove it.

Interview with Joanne Kelly on EIN

In 1956-57 Elvis helped promote polio vaccinations for the March of Dimes (MOD). He was photographed with the organisation's poster girl, Joanne Wilson, and also having his polio vaccination. Subsequently, Elvis' "Love Me Tender" and an interview were featured on the 1957 LP, Remember Me! March of Dimes 1957 Galaxy of Stars. The LP is now a rare collector's item.

But whatever happened to the little girl who was lucky enough to meet and kiss Elvis?

Not exactly interviews but more good stuff on Elvis Australia

An article examining how the tracks on Elvis' 1973 album go a long way to explaining the problems Elvis was having with his marriage to Priscilla. This was a very sad time for Elvis :(

No Upstairs Footage On New Graceland DVD

Elvis Australia updated the news on the new Graceland DVD. Todd Morgan said ”The new tour DVD does not include any footage of the upstairs of Graceland Mansion and there is no intention at all to suggest otherwise.”

When the narrator states that the video will show not only downstairs but also upstairs. "The DVD will include footage of Elvis' bathroom lounge and dressing room area featuring a walk in closet, Jacuzzi, Whirlpool tub and luxurious multi head shower and steam bath, along with a bathroom and dressing room area for his friends."

This refers to the racquetball building. So the original update was not clear on this.

Elvis Presley, Cadillacs and Don Kinney - Vail, Colorado 1976

On January 4, 1976, on the spur of the moment Elvis decided to fly to Vail, Colorado for a vacation. During this time, Elvis purchased and gave as gifts several Cadillacs. In reporting the story of Elvis generosity to his police friends it is said that Denver television newsman Don Kinney joked on air that he'd like a car, too ('Elvis, if you're watching - I wouldn't mind getting a car too') and that Elvis buys him a Seville. In the following, Don Kinney contradicts this and tells his story.
