NASHVILLE ;)

It's definitely time for an update, and what better place in the world to post from than Nashville!

Myself and Jon Green arrived here a couple of weeks ago, which now seems like months. We had to fly separately and I had a pretty interesting journey over here-a long flight on american airlines- I had to do a stop off in chicago where i was taken into a private room by a very scary and serious looking officer (you don't where where this is going do you...) , i clearly look a bit suspect cause i had to be slightly interrogated-i tried to keep cool but suddenly felt that immense feeling of total panic as i tried to think back as to what criminal activities i could remember partaking in!

Anyway, i finally got on another plane to Nashville, which was big enough to fit about four people on it, and was met by jon's smiling face-unfortuately i was not met by my suitcase which was still in chicago!

But the sun was shining, i was so excited about arriving there that the journey was soon forgotten. Nasville is just like i had pictured in my head and more. We had a quiet dinner on our first night as our body clocks were a bit screwed-we very nearly feel asleep into our hugely oversized portions of food!

I was straight into writing the next with a wonderful writer called Don Poythress who i adored immediately. From there i met Barry Dean through Don who is an amazing singer and writer, he had an awesome time with both of them and they have been really kind to me here. THe rest of the week i was writing with craig Wiseman (a total legend)and all the "Big loud shirt"writers- chris Tompkins, Betsy ulmer, Tyler Hayes, clay cumbie and shridhar Solanki. craig and i had worked before i came to nashville and he was so welcoming to me when i arrived and got me working with all his writers as well as writing with him which i have loved doing. He then invited me on a writers week to a retreat just outside Nashville-a place where you can create enough carnage without being seen, heard or arrested! It was a very productive week of writing and also drinking, not to mention eating twice my body weight in the space of three days. On the retreat there was all the writers from Big loud shirt as well as a singer/songwriter called Jared Johnson who is fantastic.

We had a power cut on one of the nights and were basically in pitch black from 9pm onwards-everyone had had a bit to drink and yet my biggest fear was being force-fed a 8ft long Boloney!-yes there was food EVERYWHERE and yes-i ate all of it-except the 8ft long baloney-a completely strange an unappealing invention. We had a great night around a camp fire eating marshmellows and singing songs til we had no voices left-i loved every minute of it.

It is hard not to talk about food in this blog cause it has, other than writing, been a big focus of this trip. Jon and I have become locals in pancake pantry, very worrying.

So then Mr graham Kearns arrived! One of my favourite people in the world-jon and i were so excited and it was also Graham's first time in Nashville. We got him straight in to the swing of things by making he eat $h!tloads of food and pouring tequilla down his beak til he couldn't see-good times.

Just realise none of this blog is in proper order of events but i am trying to keep it short but not leave anything out!

All of us have been working with different people and loving it. Jon also introduced Graham and I to his friend chris Eaton who is wonderful and a great writer. He is actually from birmingham and i had met him years ago when i was a backing singer for Judie Tzuke in Ronnie Scotts. We had some great nights out with chris but he has just headed back to the Uk, hopefully we can recreate our Nashville nights again there.

ALso on one of the nights we got to sing at a gig with Don and Barry which was an amazing experience to perform but mainly to hear Don and Barry sing-both insanely talented writers and beautiful singers- we all had an amazing time that night.

I also bumped into a writer/producer who i had worked with in sweden years ago called Mathias Vollo, it was so cool to see him again and subsequently we got to work together again and will be again in Sweden when i leave Nashville, can't wait for that.

I also wrote with two other great writers called Marty Dodson and Tommy lee James-legendary names! It has been a real experience and pleasure to get to work with all these guys-all of which are so humble and talented-it's a very inspiring place to be where music is at your every turn in the least cynical way possible-anyone who comes hear i'm sure would agree that it is almost impossible to leave.

Another incredible Artist and Writer i met is a guy called Busbee who's music is so beautiful and personal-you should check it out on my top friends list, i can't stop listening to his songs!

I have talked for a while but still haven't told you everything that has been happening, Me, Jon and Graham have just been having the best time here and will be very sad to leave. It gives you a different perspective on music, life.....food....and your ability to withstand stupid amounts of alcohol whilst still remaining in the "holiday bubble" where reality doesn't come into the equation!

I will look forward to coming home though and playing some gigs and performing some new material. I am missing home too and ofcourse Geordan-i will be bringing him back some cowboy boots and tight pants and will most probably force him to wear them!

anyway, enough now until i have got more to say.

love to all, i am off to eat my last krispy kreme of the day-who's counting!?

lucie xxxxx P.S . my spelling and grammar has ofcourse declined in recent months.
