Posted October 24, 200717 yr In 2004, Placebo released a special edition version of their Sleeping With Ghosts album which included a bonus CD of cover versions of their favourite artists. 1. "Running Up That Hill" (Kate Bush) 2. "Where Is My Mind?" (Pixies) 3. "Bigmouth Strikes Again" (The Smiths) 4. "Johnny and Mary" (Robert Palmer) 5. "20th Century Boy" (T.Rex) 6. "The Ballad Of Melody Nelson" (Serge Gainsbourg) 7. "Holocaust" (Alex Chilton) 8. "I Feel You" (Depeche Mode) 9. "Daddy Cool" (Boney M) 10. "Jackie" (Sinéad O'Connor) What do you personally think of these? Any particular favourites? Any you think do justice to the originals or the opposite? My favourites are Running Up That Hill (when performed live), 20th Century Boy, Bigmouth Strikes Again and Daddy Cool is interesting. I used to think Brian's voice wasn't suited to the Depeche Mode cover, but after listening to it a lot lately it has really grown on me!
October 25, 200717 yr Of course, Running Up That Hill is the best one. And even more amazing when they play it live. That feeling hearing it live, you can't describe. Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill is good also, especially for that time when it was out. I like both of them, but Placebo more. Also it's good that it seems that they weren't trying to copy Kate's style, they did it on that way that it sounds quite different from the original one. Also I like Where Is My Mind?, Bigmouth Strikes Again, 20th Century Boy, Johnny and Mary and Daddy Cool. It seems that they really had fun recording Daddy Cool. Covers I don't like that much, but I think they're ok, are I Feel You and Jackie. And ones I don't listen often are The Ballad Of Melody Nelson and Holocaust.
