Posted October 24, 200717 yr Well despite the album being her best out of the 3, having excellent singles and great album tracks Rihanna has still not sold well in the UK in terms of albums. Is it only me that thinks it's astonishing how an album that spawned a 10 week #1 single and a further Top5 single and an obvious future hit has only sold a little over 300k? I mean she's promoted, the singles have done well, the album has done alright in terms of chart positions and stuff. So is it something that Rihanna has done wrong or is it simply a case of declining sales? Discuss. ^_^
October 24, 200717 yr It's strange, only selling 300k. But I guess it's just a thing, Some artists will only be big single sellers, others will only be big album sellers. Although I think Umberella overshadowed the album, being #1 for 10 weeks, thats all people thought about and brought. I doubt people even know that she has an album out atm.
October 24, 200717 yr Hmmm... it is strange. I just think she's more of a singles artist tbh. If she released ''Don't Stop The Music'' as a 4th single that could help majorly I think. ^_^
October 24, 200717 yr Author I love Don't Stop The Music but it's hardly going to be right for this time of year?

I think a lot of people are casual Rihanna fans tbh, I've not met anyone in real life (actually, I have met ONE!) who classes themself as a FAN. They usually like SOS or Umbrella, and that's it. So I don't think people are really that keen to buy the album, but will buy the odd single. My two cents anyway. Edited October 24, 200717 yr by Slick
October 24, 200717 yr Rihanna, for me, has always been a singles artist. I downloaded A Girl Like Me and Music of the Sun a while ago and I was severely dissapointed. The only songs I liked were the singles. GGGB is seriously solid though. But I think a lot of people were worried that Umbrella and SUAD were the only good songs because of the last albums? Just my two cents. I think it will have sold well by the end of HTILY's run and a possible 4th single.
October 24, 200717 yr Author I can see 400-450k which is not too shabby! Agreed, but still for the monster hit that was lifted from it it's not all that impressive. However I am hoping that GGGB will have the same type of success that P!nk's "I'm Not Dead" had last Christmas where all of a sudden it was near the top of the charts every week despite not having a single out or anything. ^_^
October 24, 200717 yr she hasn't sold that well in the US either seeing as how big the singles have been :(
October 24, 200717 yr Author Ouch, considering it had a hugely succesful single it's quite bad. Saying that, how have the other singles from GGGB done in the US?
October 24, 200717 yr Shut Up And Drive - 15  Hate That I Love You - 15 aswell but its still climbing ^_^
October 24, 200717 yr Author Well that's really quite good! :o Wasn't Don't Stop The Music released in the US?
October 24, 200717 yr i dno  it was expected to be a single but was cancelled and replaced by HTILY
October 24, 200717 yr Author Oh. It's weird that though because DSTM was originally one of the standout tracks for me and still is actually. :o I think it would have made an excellent replacement for SU&D. :o
October 24, 200717 yr im not sure actually i like them both alot but Breakin Dishes eclipses them both for me B)

Christmas will be to busy this year anyway, with the whole Spice Girls and that.
