im not sure actually i like them both alot but Breakin Dishes eclipses them both for me B)

I think it's the worst song on the album. :o

Sadly I don't think thats going to happen. :(

I reckon that the album will sell only around 450/500k max. Christmas will be to busy this year anyway, with the whole Spice Girls and that.

Saying that though Yoshi, we have HUGE releases at this time of year EVERY year and last year was no exception yet P!nk still managed to break through the pack and sell shed loads particularly over the Christmas period despite her album having been out for ages. So this is why I live in hope.

I don't think promotion has been the problem really. She's been on GMTV, This Morning, Tyra and other decent shows which get a lot of viewers and most US-based artists don't even bother doing those! Not to mention the 2 performances at the VMA's to help boost her sales. So, again I don't think promotion is the problem which is why this is such a mystery to me.

Oh Clarkson, i've abondoned her completely. :( Rihanna I can't understand because her album is among the best of this year, Clarkson however (even coming from a HUGE fan like myself) is among the worst. I don't understand how an album that was so anticipated and followed on from a hugely successful album which sold 10m+ worldwide could be so dire - both in sales and quality. Absolutely detest it, Never Again and Sober are excellent. Haunted and One Minute are mediocre and the rest is just utter c**p in my opinion. Oh Kelly where did you go wrong? You recorded a dire album that's where you went wrong also being held off #1 by Hannah Montana how embarrassing.

She wont even reach platinum in the USA now :( I supose she has only got herself to blame though -_-

I think it could be like Nelly Furtado's Loose in the longrun where that hadn't sold a great deal after two huge singles but in the end did.

Not releasing 'Don't Stop The Music' as third single is a FATAL mistake however, let's hope it's not too late if they release it as fourth.

This puzzles me too, but then you could say it's happened to a lot of artists this year. Kaiser Chiefs had a #1 comeback single and there was a load of hype around their comeback and the first album sold loads too [granted this could be down to the fact the album is $h!te] and it's happened to Avril too. I'm trying to think of others acts it's happened to aswell but I can't think of any. :\

I also think nowadays it's way too easily to get hold of albums illegally. I mean i've got her album and I do like it, with the exception of a few tracks it's full of decent pop/R&B tracks but I got it illegally and I bet a lot of other people did too. But album sales are declining on the whole now and I think this is because of downloads. Because the emphasis of the download market and how easy it is to download a track it takes it's toll on album sales. It costs £0.79 to buy a track, so if you like "Umbrella" for example you can just go and download the track for less than a £1, where say 2 years ago or whatever it would have costed £1.99/£2.99 for a single so people might aswell say "what the heck, i'll fork out for the album" as it's only really a few extra pounds more expensive.

I hope that all makes sense.

Singles obviously haven't been wrong as all have been successful.

I think nothing has been done wrong, actually - and I think that with so many people having bought Umbrella (it clearly opened Ri up to a new audience) she was always likely to struggle for album sales initially. However I think it'll continue to sell till after the 4th single and rack up double platinum status.

I hardly call the follow-up to Umbrella successful!!

She has indeed, for once she should have listened to Clive Davis, he really DID know what he was doing by trying to stop her releasing the mess that is My December. :(

Saying that I think if she had of releases DSTM now it would have put people off in the same way that If It's Lovin' That You Want did, released at the wrong time of year, if it had of been released during the summer I think both would have been smashes. Unfortunately summery dance tracks don't do terribly well in Winter.

Top5 in the UK and Top15 in the US... no - you're right not successful at all. :|

Shut Up And Drive was very successful seeing as it was a different sound for her ^_^ didnt really generate into album sales though :(

Whereas I think Don't Stop The Music would have. :(

In my opinion it should have went:

Umbrella

Don't Stop The Music

Hate That I Love You

Rehab (end of January)

Shut Up & Drive (start of April)

That way I think she would have picked up tonnes more sales from DSTM because I think it showcases the album better and the sound is a lot more "her", Hate That I Love You for the big festive balland, Rehab as the mellow track to begin the new year and Shut Up & Drive to show people she can be diverse if none of the previous 4 singles had pulled them in. I think releasing the singles in that order would have been beneficial to the album's sales...

i think :P

Umbrella

Hate That I Love You

Breakin Dishes

Good Girl Gone Bad

Shut Up And Drive

i agree about SUAD showing her diversity ^_^

HTILY climbs to Top 10 in the US this week at 9 :yahoo: Another Top 10

It really isn't :(

Usually after a big selling #01 an artist finds it hard to follow it up so she did very well!
