His new album is actually alright and a return to form. I gave up on Prince’s records sometime in the mid 1990s as he seemed to churn out a lot of substandard stuff with no quality control. The ‘New Power Generation’ were in no way comparable to ‘the Revolution’ and it seemed that he was more interested in portraying himself as the ‘Slave’, than making great music.

 

I cannot say if he is the greatest performer as I have never seen him live, and so the honour would have to fall to someone like Siouxsie or Jarvis.
