Take That regret to inform their audience that band member Howard Donald will be unable to perform at tonight's show in Vienna due to sustaining a chest injury whilst performing on tour with the band in Europe.

Howard is now in recovery in a hospital in Vienna. He says 'I'm really disappointed and upset that this has happened, as I've never had to miss a show before, it's unbelievably frustrating being sat in a hospital when I should be onstage with the guys'.

At Howard's request the band are going to go ahead with the show tonight in Vienna without him.

'Our friend's health is of the utmost priority and we wish him a speedy recovery, we'll make sure tonight's show is still a fantastic experience for the fans.' Most importantly Howard would like all Take That supporters to know he will return to the tour just as soon as the doctors allow it.

Hope the injury is not that serious and get well to Howard.

This is going to sound so selfish but I hope he's fully recovered enough by 15th December!

well for the howard fans is is awful as many people like cerain memebers etc so for the howard fans to go and him not there would be so disappointing

They may have to abandon the rest of the European leg of the tour though as that's how long he's going to be out of action. I'm a Gary fan myself but I want to see all four of them there .... it just isn't the same with three (although I'd still go to watch).

Howard has a collapsed lung according to the Sun, and may be out of action for 2 weeks

I hope he is better in time for 30 November..... I found it difficult enough getting used to just 4 of them....

Apparently Gary, Mark and Jay did brilliantly without him though, but it just wouldn't be the same

I don't suppose Gary will be able to mention his and Howard's own personal website now then "www.goodlookingb*stards.com"!

Poor Howard. I guess it must be disappointing for the fans who want to see him but even MORE fans would be disappointed if they cancelled.

Hope he gets better soon.

Take That singer injured on tour

BBC Entertainment News

Take That star Howard Donald was forced to miss a show on the band's European tour after suffering a chest injury while on stage.

The 39-year-old singer is recovering in hospital in Austria after sustaining the injury during an earlier concert.

He requested the gig in Vienna go ahead with just his three group mates.

"I've never had to miss a show before, it's unbelievably frustrating being sat in a hospital when I should be on stage with the guys," he said.

A spokeswoman for the group could not give information about the seriousness of Donald's injury or how exactly it happened.

Before Friday's gig, Take That's three other members promised fans a good night despite Donald's absence.

"Our friend's health is of the utmost priority and we wish him a speedy recovery, we'll make sure tonight's show is still a fantastic experience for the fans," they said.

Their next show is in Zurich on Saturday night.

The group - whose other members are Mark Owen, Gary Barlow and Jason Orange - are currently on their Beautiful World European tour which began in Belfast on 11 October and ends in Manchester on 20 November.

The tour follows on from their chart-topping comeback album of the same name and its UK dates sold out in three hours when tickets went on sale in March.

Six additional concerts were added to the foursome's arena tour, who sealed their comeback earlier this year with a Brit award for best single Patience.

The chart-topping song was followed by their second comeback number one Shine - the 10th song of their career to go to the top spot.

In December, Take That topped the singles and album charts simultaneously for the first time in their career with Patience and Beautiful World respectively.

At the height of their fame, Take That became the first act since the Beatles to score four consecutive UK number ones.

Their 15 hits included Relight My Fire, Could It Be Magic and Back For Good, and the band notched up 10 million album sales before splitting in 1996.

Just a note for any Take That fans posting on this board ... this w*nker Jonny is just stirring things - he may be older but he has the mental age of about 10 and the attention span of a moth. He hates Take That and the only way to get rid of him is to ignore him.

He's been following my posts around (he's like a puppy dog in love with me and I'm sick of his constant stalking) and I've just realised it enough to make this my last response to him. Please do likewise.

I won't check his profile as I think I know all I need to know from his juvenile postings.
