Delta Goodrem’s big return into the spot light at the ARIAs tomorrow night will be overshadowed by the public announcement that her mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

 

Sunday Telegraph editor Neil Breen, spoke with 2GB today saying Lea Goodrem has known about it for eight weeks, and has already undergone surgery but wanted to keep things quiet while Delta was releasing her new album.

 

Delta has had her own struggles with cancer, fighting Hutchinson's Lymphoma four years ago.

OMG that's such terrible news. I hope she gets well soon and has a speedy recovery. Hopefully they caught the cancer early? :(

Has Delta known for the last 8 weeks, cuz she has been incredibly strong if so? I didn't know anything was wrong :(.

Oh my, I'm really shocked! My heart just sank like I felt when I heard Delta had been diagnosed!! :(

 

Hopefully she'll be okay and its been caught early!! I'll be thinking of Lea and her family and I wish them the best!

This is a bit of a delayed response, but none the less.

 

Delta was aware of her mother's illness. They kept it private for many reasons, Delta's release being one of them.
