Delta Goodrem is resting on her laurels this week as In This Life remains at No.3 and her new album Delta, debuted at No.1 on the albums chart. Hey There Delilah scores the No.4 spot, marking the Plain White T’s peak position for the track and thus leaving The Veronica’s Hook Me Up settling for No.5. Santana’s Into The Night moves up a notch to No.8, meanwhile the Rogue Traders remain stationed at No.10 with Don’t You Wanna Feel. SORRY, BLAME IT ON ME - Akon No.30 Making his debut in 2005, Akon burst into the ARIA Singles Chart with Locked Up. The single peaked at No.33 in May that year. Next up for Akon was Lonely, Akon’s first No.1 single. Lonely spent three non-consecutive weeks at No.1 and is certified double platinum. Akon almost topped the charts for a second time with Smack That, but the single peaked at No.2 on the combined chart and No.1 on the physical single chart earlier this year. Sorry Blame It On Me is Akon’s seventh Top 40 hit and was written to apologize publicly for his actions during a nightclub performance in Trinidad. NOT ME - Amy Pearson No.37 Originally hailing from Birmingham, England, pop singer Amy Pearson now calls Sydney home. Pearson honed into her skills at the very young age of three and by six she was writing her own songs. In 2003 Gary Barlow of Take That fame saw Pearson’s potential and decided to help her break into the music business. Pearson made her debut onto the ARIA Singles Chart with Don’t Miss You, which peaked at No.19 in July this year. Not Me is the second single to be released off Pearson’s forthcoming album, Who I Am. SAVE ME - The McClymonts No.76 Aussie country music trio The McClymont’s consists of sisters Brooke, Samantha and Mollie. Big sister Brooke has had two solo singles releases – I Can’t Wait (No.49 July ’02) and I Don’t Think I Know (No.45 Jan. ’03) and has also written songs for Olivia Newton-John, Hilary Duff and past Idol winner, Kate DeAraugo. Middle sister Samantha won the Golden Guitar for Best New Talent and released a track called Cookin’ In My Kitchen, but it failed to make an impact on the ARIA Singles Chart. Last of all, youngest sister Mollie, graduated from a Talent Development program three years ago and has since been working on her song writing skills. Together their self titled EP peaked at No.40 in September last year and are set to release their debut album in two weeks called, Chaos And Bright Lights. Albums Delta Goodrem and her new album, Delta, knocks off Matchbox Twenty’s Exile On Mainstream down from No.1 to No.2. This is Goodrem’s third No.1 album! No.3 is James Blunt’s All The Lost Souls, while also shifting down a gear from No.3 to No.4 is the Foo Fighters’ Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. No.5 is the Rogue Trader’s new album Better In The Dark. No.6 is a new entry with Santana, Ultimate Santana, while falling No.7 this week is Bruce Springsteen’s Magic. From No.8 to No.9 is Future Sex / Love Sounds by Justin Timberlake. No.9 is the Hairspray Soundtrack and and new to the Top 10 at No.10is Timbaland Presents: Shock Value by Timbaland. DELTA - Delta Goodrem No.1 This is Goodrem’s third album after a three year hiatus. Her career started on Neighbours, and upon leaving the show, Goodrem released her first album Innocent Eyes which reached No.1 in March, 2003 and is accredited platinum, 14 times! After a period of illness, Goodrem released another successful album, Mistaken Identity, which also reached the lofty heights of No.1 in November, 2004 and is also accredited platinum, five times over. ULTIMATE SANTANA - Santana No.6 This Mexican born guitarist has been the inspiration for many other musicians including Prince, Miles Davis and Kirk Hammett – the guitarist from Metallica. Santana first started playing in a band called the Santana Blues Band in the late 60’s. Over time they became known purely as Santana. He has also embarked upon a solo career and has recently enjoyed resurgence in his popularity due to the release of a few albums, including Supernatural (No.1 Mar. ’00) which is accredited 4x platinum. This album featured collaborations with Lauryn Hill, Eric Clapton, Rob Thomas, Dave Matthews plus others. The success of this album was followed up by another collaborative album, Shaman (No.11 Nov. ’02), which featured the talents of Michelle Branch, Seal and P.O.D. THE BLACK AND THE WHITE ALBUM - The Hives No.36 It has been three years since this Swedish band released an album. For the new album, they purposely looked for a different sound and way to create music and hence worked with different producers in both Sweden and the USA. In the USA they were recording in Mississippi, and found that the pace of life had an effect on their music, making them slow down and perfect recordings that they would not have done otherwise. The Hives is made up of Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Vigilante Carlstroem, Dr. Matt Destruction and Chris Dangerous. The Hives previous releases have included Tyrannosaurus Hives (No.33 Jul. ’04) and Your New Favourite Band (No.19 Jun. ’02). NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW - Coheed & Cambria No.39 This New York band is currently made up of Claudio Sanchez – lead vocals, guitars, Travis Stever – guitars, Michael Todd – bass and Chris Pennie – drums. Their recent albums each form a chapter from a science fiction comic book written by Claudio Sanchez called The Amory Wars. Coheed and Cambria are two characters in the story. This album was recorded with the drumming expertise of Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters. NO MAN'S WOMAN - Various No.42 This album is chock-full of male Aussie artists doing covers of songs made famous by females artists. Included on the album are Powderfinger – Portishead’s Glory Box, Josh Pyke – Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights, Tex Perkins – Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman, Grinspoon – Divinyl’s Boys In Town, Paul Kelly – PJ Harvey’s To Bring You My Love, Bob Evans – Lucinda Williams’ Car Wheels On A Gravel Rd, Angus Stone – Joni Mitchell’s River as well as The Vines – The Veronicas’ 4eva among many others NOEL - Josh Groban No.60 Groban performed in the closing ceremony of the 2002 Olympics, has been on Ally McBeal, Oprah and The Ellen Degeneres Show and has now released an album of Christmas Carols. On this album he has enlisted the help of The African Children’s Choir, Bryan McKnight, Faith Hill, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The London Philharmonic to record the classic carols and spread some Christmas cheer. Groban’s previous albums include Awake (No.5 May ’07), Live At The Greek (No.16 May ’05) Closer (No.25 Feb ’04) and Josh Groban (No.28 Jul.’02). LA CUCURACHA - Ween No.84 Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo met in an eighth grade typing class. Over the years they have contributed to the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants with the songs Ocean Man and Loop De Loop and were also part of Chef Aid on South Park. The band members consist of Dean Ween, aka Mickey Melchiondo – lead guitar, vocals and, Gene Ween, aka Aaron Freeman – lead vocal, guitar. Ween had succes with the track Push Th’ Little Daisies (No.18 Jul. ’93). CHANGE - Sugababes No.90 The current line-up of the the Sugababes is Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah. Along with many other prominent female artists, they recently contributed to a track, Sing on Annie Lennox’s new album Songs of Mass Destruction.
