Hey Jamse what did you mean by the term "real" ET20? Where can I find this ET20 archive on the net?

What I mean by the real ET20 is the European Top 20 of 1991-2009 from Markus' archive. I use this reference to specifically exclude the Euro Hitlist which replaced the ET20 in 2009 April as it had a varying compliation method. It also excluded the charts from 1989-1990 which clearly are much different from the ones of 1991-2009. The first bunch of charts you've shared resemble the 1989-1990 chart and around 1991 April/May the methodology gradually changed into the one used for the chart 1991-2009 i.e. the same chart with a changed compilation method.

The flaws of the Euro Hitlist and the reason for why I prefer to think of them as separate ET20 charts (ET20 of 1991-2009 and 2009-2012) are summarised on Page 11 of the thread below:

Jamse, thanks for the explanation. But if we compare MTV Euro 's Top 20 singles and MUSIC & MEDIA EUROPEAN HOT 100 the difference is obvious!

Fo example, look at the European Hot 100 Singles (27/06/1992) [Week 26] (chart can be found on UKMix site). At #12 there is a''Heartbeat'' by Nick Berry.

But in MTV Euro Charts there's no such artist (in 1992)? The same thing is with ''Joy'' by Francois Feldman. I think MTV European Top 20 wasn't a true European chart?

...the same thing with Evanescence "Bring Me To Life", try Daft Punk "One More Time" or even Afroman "Because I Got High" - stuff like that; all agreed that the ET20 (1991-2009) would've looked better with all the European hits charting but still very interesting to follow. Which of the charts do you like better?

What happened to Markus' archive?

I've been wondering the same thing. I haven't been able to access it for a month or so...

Some time ago I was thrilled by MTV's European Top 20 countdown. But today when I look at other Euro charts like MUSIC & MEDIA EUROPEAN HOT 100 and THE EUROPARADE, I could conclude that the MTV European Top 20 wasn't a true European chart, although I liked it very much. Today I like most European Hot 100 Singles (by Music & Media). I just noticed that at the MTV's European Top 20 has never been Celine Dion "Je Sais Pas'' though the song ranked #9 for the Week 48 - December 2, 1995 (on Music & Media European Hot 100) :(

Hey Jamse, did you follow ChartArcive on chartstats.com? I think that the same thing happened with Markus archive. :o

In the 2000s most big dance hits never charted. Mad'House - Like A Prayer, Rui da Silva - Touch Me, Scooter - Logical Song, DJ Sammy - Heaven, Lasgo - Something, Safri Duo - Played A Live, Fragma - Toca's Miracle, Public Domain - Operation Blade, Gigi D'Agostino - La Passion, Kate Ryan - Desenchantee, In-Grid - Tu Es Foutu, Daddy DJ - Daddy DJ, ATC - Around The World, etc...
