Analysis

 

Some interesting movements this week starting with Soda Club becoming the new DVD chart No.1 knocking Embrace down to 3rd place…The album chart has 15 slippers this week with just 1 climber, from DHT, and 2 non-movers, from Soda Club and Kelly Clarkson…The Veronicas finally leave the top 5 to make way for Nerina Pallot who debuts in 5th place with her first album, Dear Frustrated Superstar!!! Gnarls Barkley slide a place to No.4 followed by Carrie Underwood, down a place on her 17th consecutive week in the top 3!!! Nerina falls to No.2 after 5 weeks in control with Fires and Eurovision 2006 storms straight in at No.1!!!

 

The singles chart also has a Eurovision feel to it this week…Belgium’s Kate Ryan re-enters while songs from Elena Risteska (Macedonia), Severina (Croatia), Texas Lightning (Germany) and Christine Guldbrandsen (Norway) all post climbs…Nerina Pallot and Infernal score new entries in the top 20 with the highest re-entry courtesy of Nelly Furtado with the excellent Maneater!!! Also outside the top 10 there are climbs from Dannii Minogue and Shakira. Meanwhile, inside the top 10, Gnarls Barkley spend an 8th week inside it with Crazy. The top 5 starts with the aforementioned Christine from Norway whose Celtic sounding song Alvedansen is the highest climber at No.5. Infernal move back up to 4th place with From Paris to Berlin while Carola slips to No.3…Daz Sampson climbs to a new peak of No.2 with Teenage Life while Nerina Pallot stays at No.1 for a 4th week in total with Everybody’s gone to war!!!

As Eurovision gets nearer 8 of its songs are in my midweek top 20 with 5 of them in the top 10 as we speak but can any of them replace Nerina at No.1??? Other acts inside the top 10 include Infernal, Nelly Furtado and a huge climb for Shakira...

 

The album chart looks set to stay fairly static with Nerina and Eurovision battling it out for the top spot once again...
