November 6, 200717 yr Kylie launches social networking site 14:23 | Monday November 5, 2007 By Anna Winston Parlophone and New Visions Mobile have today launched of kyliekonnect.com, a cross platform social network for fans of Kylie Minogue. An application available on kyliekonnect.com will enable fans to create a profile and connect directly with other fans around the world via mobile devices and web browsers. Minogue will have her own regularly updated profile offering exclusive music, competitions, news and tour information and her profile will be automatically added to any new member profile. Music tracks and realtones will also be available for download to mobile devices from the site which runs on New Visions Mobile’s OurTribe system. New Visions Mobile director Julia McNally says, “Whilst other social networking sites allow fans to create their own profiles online, side loading images and video from their phones to the PC, OurTribe allows users to create and manage their pages directly from their mobile handset. “It’s extremely exciting for us to launch this with such a big name artist as Kylie”. The launch comes on the same day as The Daily Mail printed a story claiming that Kylie had been forced to cancel an upcoming world tour which has been strongly denied by Kylie’s representatives. The article says that Kylie has been forced to pull out on Doctor’s orders despite there having been no tour announced. In a statement issued on the singer’s website, Kylie’s representative says, “We would like to make it clear that the report in today's Daily Mail that Kylie has cancelled a forthcoming tour on doctor's orders is completely false. “There were and are no dates currently confirmed. If and when dates are confirmed they will be announced in the normal manner. “Kylie has not been told by her doctors that touring 'could seriously harm her health'. She did not give the quotes reported in the Mail today. And touring is something that she is still considering for the future. Her health remains excellent and she is in the middle of promoting her new single and album.” Source: MW
