From the tv times.

On this day 1979

ITV1's 2002 Pop Idol winner Will Young was born. Apart from his success as a singer and worthy praise for his acting, Will was voted Rear of the Year in 2005

I thought he looked so slightly built compared to the other guy.....very nice though :D

He did look huge in comparison to Will. Although Will was so obviously flirting he didn't appear to be his usual type. ;)

It struck how lean he was when I saw him in the bar in Manchester. Funny how he looked so different from the broad shouldered Nicky.

Will is broad-shouldered but that shirt he wore was made from old material and was thicker and baggier than they wear nowadays - especially Will - and really enhanced his physique. This one especially shows his upper body off well - typical 'carrot':

God he is gorgeous

WILL YOUNG'S FANS BACK CAMPAIGN TO SAVE CITY THEATRE

11:40 - 19 January 2008

Fans who supported the refurbishment of the Northcott by sponsoring a seat for one of its former stars have joined the campaign to keep it open.

Pop Idol winner Will Young studied politics in the city until 2001 and also took part in the musicals Sweet Charity and Oklahoma! at the Northcott while a student.

Will's fans, who communicate via the williamyoung.biz website, were among the many who raised money towards the theatre's £2.1m refurbishment by sponsoring a seat for him.

The Arts Council announced it would no longer give the Northcott its revenue grant of £547,000 a year in the week the theatre reopened after the building work finished in December. It is feared that without this money the theatre could close.

Will has spoken regularly about his time at the Northcott and the part it played in his future success, as well as how much he enjoyed being at university in Exeter.

Will fan Gill Stanley, from Bovey Tracey, organised the collection of the £600 for the front-row seat.

"The experience and confidence he gained there and its links with the university undoubtedly helped him realise his love of entertaining and to secure a place at a high quality London drama college on graduation," she said.

"I am sure this helped to kick-start his professional music and acting career."

More than 60 fans from as far afield as the Isle of Wight and Glasgow, helped to raise the money and Gill came to see the seat on the theatre's reopening night.

"The prospect of the theatre being increasingly successful and having an exciting future, as well as obviously having Will's name on view, was a significant reason why we collected the money," she said.

"We had envisaged his sponsored seat being seen by the public for a long time.

"If the theatre is forced to close, this will be very upsetting for everyone, including students and young people like Will, who might be considering a long-term career in the arts. The Arts Council should rethink its decision."

The Echo's coverage of the theatre's funding crisis has been sent to every Devon MP.

Plymouth's Gary Streeter and Anthony Steen, who represents Totnes, responded yesterday.

"It is an outrage happening right across the board," Mr Steen said. Mr Streeter said: "We will do all we can."

Thanks for bringing that across BYM&Ms. There was a report about threatened theatre closures on the Anglia news yesterday but the report was about an art gallery re-opening so they must have got funding.
