Thanks sunday, it's very telling what Annie Lennox has to say about him isn't it? he's been so amazingly successful but he's never been in your face and bragged and boasted about it, unlike another certain Simon, no wonder Will wanted him as his manager.

Great news. :D I suspect they were always going to do it but it's nice to know in advance.

Wouldn't it be great if they put some RS clips on there.

Forgot to mention. I go to a pub quiz on a Friday. A few weeks ago one of the questions was "What year did Will Young win PI?". There is a theme round and last night it was on the word "young". The first question was "Who had a #1 massive hit with Anything is Possible and had a book out with the same title?" Everyone seemed to know the answers to both questions.

Will just gets everywhere.

If all the questions were Will related you'd win every week chrysalis. :D

I sure would TT. Our team is pretty good, and have won several times. Last night we were 2nd, but only one behind - and if the team had listened to my answers on two of the other questions, we would have won. :arrr:

Update on the OS today. Posted by Country Girl

Offset your Will-related carbon emissions!, UK

As you know, this summer Will is taking to the road and will be enticing lots of you to do the same when you follow him across the UK with a series of festival dates.

We know you all are environmentally savvy and so Eforests.co.uk are helping you offset your carbon emissions created by all your travel with a dedicated page, which you can access here.

Just to give you an idea of the scale, if Will were to perform at a concert of 20,000 fans, it's quite possible half of those fans travel by car to get to the concert venue, some may even get there by plane - that's a lot of carbon emissions for just one concert.

Multiply that by the amount of concerts and it's easy to see how emissions can build up.

Of course, you can reduce your emissions by travelling on public transport or car-sharing but if you want to offset your carbon, click here to visit Will’s dedicated page and check out the Carbon Calculator or Plant a Tree in the Will Young Fans' Forest."

Thanks for bringing the update over F/G.

Here's some more info.

Will Young Fans Carbon Offsetting

Seeing Will Young in concert? Then why not plant trees with other fans to offset your carbon?

Fans of the singer, Will Young, have decided to help tackle climate change by planting trees to offset the carbon emissions created when travelling to and from his concerts.

Concerts can generate significant carbon emissions

Will's fans around the world are being encouraged to plant trees.

As Will is going to be performing at festivals this year and later organising an arena tour, it's been suggested that people offset their carbon emissions through EFORESTS.CO.UK

This idea came from the awareness that many of his very devoted fans travel great distances and attend a high number of his concerts and this provides them with an opportunity to put something back into the environment.

The amount of carbon emissions generated by an artist when recording, distributing and touring for an album is often matched, if not dwarfed, by the amount of emissions that their fans make when travelling to and from each of the concerts. For example, if Will were to perform at a concert of 20,000 fans, it's quite possible that half of those fans travelled by car to get to the concert venue. Some of the fans may even have travelled by plane. That's a lot of carbon emissions for just one concert.

Multiply that by the amount of concerts that an artist typically gives each year and it's easy to see how emissions can build up.

Of course, the first step to take is to reduce any emissions by travelling by public transport to concerts wherever possible. If you have to travel by car, consider car sharing with some other fans to reduce the carbon emissions - and share the cost of the petrol too!

If you want to offset your carbon, simply visit our Carbon Calculator where you can calculate your emissions by car, train and plane or you can Plant a Tree in the Will Young Fans' Forest

Wonder if the mention of an Arena tour is just speculation.

Often, but probably others are better than I, and I don't want to show my complete ignorance. I'm good on history, geography, not bad on music, but terrible on sport. Didn't realise D had a quiz.

Thanks for the updates girls. It can only work if everyone pulls together. Our efforts will be like trying to empty the oceans with a spoon if those countries who are the worst culprits continue to pollute the world. But we must all at least try.

EDIT:

Just seen this post on D from Elaine - just to re-assure:

Even though I have 'bought' a dedicated tree, (and received a lovely e-certificate) I was concerned enough about a couple of issues regarding where the trees dedicated to Will would be planted, to write a short email.

Here is the response, which I find quite reassuring.

Hi Elaine,

Thanks for your email.

The trees are definitely being planted in Cornwall - on part of the Maker Heights site where we planted around 300 Oak trees earlier this year. You can see info about the location and view photos of the site by using the "my tree" page and entering your certificate number.

However, I've been speaking with Eva today and we're going to update the Will Young page on our site with more info and photos of the location to reassure people further.

We're currently discussing with the landowners about having a sign at the planting location so I'll update the page on our web site with this very shortly too. Then people will be able to visit the site, including Will hopefully, and see where the trees have been planted.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Many thanks,

Andrew

Yes the quiz on Devoted is the same format a the one on here, mixed trivia. You'll find it in the General Discussion forum. Only problem is the American sports questions & I'm lousy at movies! :arrr: The buzzjack quiz is in the Lounge. I'm sure you'll recognise a few players. :)

OFFSETTING CARBON EMISSIONS NEWS

Since our news about how to reduce your carbon emissions following Will around the country on his forthcoming festival tour, the response from you guys has been absolutely phenomenal.

To date you've planted 47 trees to offset your carbon emissions on your travels - that has to be almost a wood! Will is completely over the moon about how you've embraced this project and taken on the responsibility to give something back to the environment.

If you've yet to take part and would like to give back in anticipation of your forthcoming festival visits, here's how to get started and plant a tree.

Bless Will. I knew this would be his thing. Plenty of tress for him to hug in a few years time.
