Thursday 14 November see the 55th anniversary of the UK singles chart.

 

Anyone interested can now see that very first chart HERE. You can also listen to the first No.1 together with a YouTube slide show of the artist.

 

The chart was complicated in those days. The chart was officially a Top 12 although there were 15 listed due to tied postions which were the norm in the 50s.

 

There are links to quite a few other chart archives as well. Most either have a video or a music clip of the No. 1 single.

 

These charts get updated on Saturday or Sunday each week.

Would've been so odd :lol:

I wish they had kept more sales data from the early peiods of the chart. WOuld be interesting to compare :(
