Jake Shears has revealed that the Scissor Sisters needed a break from working on music together following the release of their second album.

The band's frontman admitted that Ana Matronic, Paddy Boom, Babydaddy, Del Marquis and himself struggled with the pressure to make Tah-Dah as successful as their debut album.

Jake has been planning a West End musical for the past year, while most of his bandmates have also been concentrating on their own individual projects.

"Sometimes writing for the band makes you feel like you could explode, you're so focused on making it good. That was a problem we had when we were making the second record Ta-Dah," Shears told the Daily Star.

"We had no lives, it was all we did. Writing the musical has been a really fun diversion because you're not so focused on the one thing.

"We've had our ups and downs this year. Paddy's mother died and it was very sad for us all. He was away from the band a lot. We also lost a really good working relationship with someone we used to be very close to.

"But now things are great again. I'm doing the musical, Babydaddy is taking drawing classes and Ana is working on music with her boyfriend."
