Primal Scream - Country Girl

'Country Girl' is the freewheeling and bluesy comeback of Primal Scream. Taken from their forthcoming album 'Riot City Blues', 'Country Girl' finds the seminal band departing from the scuzzy-electro sound of their last studio album 'Evil Heat', in favour of the Rolling Stones-inspired rock-boogie, delivered at an exhilarating, toe tapping pace. - HMV

I thought this was c**p to be honest. I had hoped that they'd left all this Rolling Stones rip-off stuff back in 1994. The past three albums after "Give Out..." were edgy, experimental genius, but if this is anything to go by, they've taken a very unfortunate leap backwards.....

Not impressed..... -_-

They'll be back to dark electronics after this album. Personally I think I prefer their Rolling Stones rip offs - the new album features more of the same, very nice.
I just don't like this; extremely, stultifyingly derivitive Stones copy, totally lacking in any originality or even a sense of them trying something a bit different as they've done this all before over a decade ago. It's as if they just couldn't really be arsed. Incredibly disappointing, I expect a lot better from the Primals...
I quite like it - But it is not a steal from the Rolling Stones, instead the verse is a total rip off of Led Zeppelin's Black Country Woman (off Physical Graffiti).

Well, they say that fellow scots Franz Ferdinand play music to "get the girls dancing".

This gets the mums dancing, and the grandmothers too probably.

And where do ya think Zep got most of their ideas from...? The same source as The Stones did.....
