Sep 24 2008 - Update from US and Canada!

Hi,

It’s been such a fantastic month and I wanted to share it with you all!

First I performed ‘Better in time’ on Good morning America, I always enjoy singing on that show, such a great team working there.

I sang on Regis and Kelly - who are just so sweet, Jay Leno - one of my fave late shows he’s such a genuine nice guy, and the wonderful Ellen who I adore!

I got the chance meet and perform with some of the most inspiring and powerful female artists in music today. We all came together for ‘Stand Up To Cancer’, an amazing cause which is furthering cancer research and as you may know this is a cause that is close to my heart so I hope you will please help in some way, as always theres links on my site to these organisations.

We had 3 days of rehearsals around a grand piano together, what a surreal experience, and I enjoyed every second!

I met Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, Ashanti and Carrie Underwood, what an honour, they were all so nice. I spoke to Beyonce, who is such a lovely, beautiful and talented lady. I watched her perform at fashion rocks and she was so stunning. I also saw Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Rhianna and Ciara, such fab girls! So admirable and talented! To perform with them all was like a dream and I will always remember that moment.

Then as I was on my way from NYC to LA and I got a call from Lil’ Wayne’s team asking if I would sing on one of his tracks originally sampled from Nina Simone! Of course I was so flattered that they wanted me to do it but it was such short notice and I had no rehearsals( and I am a preparation freak lol!) so I was really worried! Anyway I decided it was too big an opportunity to miss so I met Lil Wayne, who was brimming with southern hospitality and was an absolute gentleman, and we performed together the next day. I really enjoyed doing the song because it was a style I hadn’t been involved in before and I love Nina Simone.

So finally I travelled to Canada, where I did some TV and radio interviews. I can’t believe how lovely and welcoming Canadian people are, so it is now among my fave places I’ve visited! I had one radio interview with Hammer from Z103 who I’d like to thank as he had taken the time to put sound bites from my X factor performances into our interview, which was so creative and thoughtful, it brought a tear to my eye and took me right back down memory lane!

So I’m super happy to be back in London now, I actually missed the rain believe it or not! And I’m so excited because ‘Forgive Me’ is being played on the radio and the video is finally out. I’m really proud of it as I’ve had so much input into the video and it’s a real creative journey for me.

So please enjoy the song and video, as always I thank you for your constant love and support.

Love always

Leona

Oct 16 2008 - Ne-Yo and a huge thank you!

Hey guys,

I’m writing this just as I’ve finished my first show in New York which was so exciting, I performed 6 songs with my live band and Ne-Yo also performed. It was a really good night that I’ve been looking forward to for so long and I had a fantastic time on stage!

It was a double highlight for me because I just found out that I won 2 MOBO awards, which is truly incredible and I feel so honoured and so happy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that supported and voted for me, you blow me away with all of the love that you show, I’m so grateful.

I was devastated to not be able to be in the UK for the event. I went to the MOBOs last year and I really support all they do for UK music. To not be able to collect the award myself was so disappointing for me, I really wish I could have been there! I would have loved nothing more than to celebrate with everyone, and a big congratulations to all of the nominees and winners.

I’m back in the UK next week and I’m super excited about all the upcoming shows, which I’ll update you on.

As always, the continued support that you all show me is overwhelming, you are the reason I am able to do this and I never forget that. Thank you.

Love always

Dec 03 2008 - Lots to catch up on, and thank you!

Hi everyone

Firstly I want to start by saying how blown away I am by all of your support in making the album number 1. Thank you so much, this year has been absolutely incredible and I couldn’t have done it without all of you.

I also recently received an Urban Music Award, World Music Award and a Bambi Award in Germany, which is exciting especially since I’m a new artist. Big thanks to all of you that voted, I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.

I shot a video for ‘Run’ in South Africa, which was such an awesome experience. We filmed in a beautiful forest, the scenery was truly spectacular and I got to work with one of my favourite directors, Jake Nava.

I performed on the X Factor again which is always a nerve-wracking experience but I was a little less scared this time round! I really enjoy performing ‘Run’, I just get lost in it, the lyrics and melody take you on a real journey and those are my favourite kind of songs.

Lastly I want to let you know that ‘Run’ is now released as a single on iTunes. I’m so glad that it has connected with people in a powerful way as it has with me.

As always I thank you so much for your belief and support.

Love always

Jan 06 2009 - Happy New Year!!

Hey guys

Happy Christmas, I hope you all had a nice time. I ate far too much, played lots of board games and watched old movies, it was brilliant!

So I just got back from New York where I sang at the Jingle Bell Ball in Madison Square Gardens, wow!! I have always wanted to play there! I caught up with the lovely Natasha Bedingfield and gorgeous Rihanna, we collected a cheque for ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ for $15,000!

I also sang ‘I Will Be’ on Letterman which was a treat for me and then I shot the video for the song in the same week. I can’t wait for you to see it, it’s so different from my previous videos. I got to shoot again with one of my favourite directors, Melina who I luv and I’m really proud of what we’ve created. I also got to work with Chace Crawford, who is one of the nicest people I’ve met, super talented and he’s in one of my new fave series’ Gossip Girl.

So it’s been an eventful year and looking back I really cannot believe the incredible things that have happened to me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world and I am truly thankful for all of the achievements I have been able to attain with your amazing support, thank u so much.

Hope you have a wonderful new year!

Lots of love always

Feb 12 2009 - Hello and thank you!

Hi everybody,

I hope you’re all really good and didn’t get too snowed in?! My mum was telling me about all the snow in London recently. I couldn’t believe it and wish I could have been there to throw snowballs with everyone!

I’m in LA at the moment starting work on my new album, which is really exciting. I also attended the Grammies which was just great. It’s so nice to get all dressed up for a big event, though I still get totally star-struck!!

I’ll write a longer message soon but I really just wanted to say a big thank you for all the time and effort you’ve been putting into voting for ‘Better In Time’ at the Brit Awards. I’ve been keeping track of voting from here and am always really excited to hear I’ve got through to the next round. You’re so good to me, so I want to say a special thank you with all my heart.

I also hear there’s a bit of contest on to see who can do the most promoting for me on their MySpace / Bebo / Facebook pages. I’m looking forward to seeing some of that and shouting out to some people from this blog very soon!

Love always

Hi everybody,

As promised, here’s a longer blog. Hope you’ve had a happy New Year! I’m so excited about this year as I’m finally getting to work on my new album. I’m in the studio right now with some fantastic songwriters and producers and I’m so enjoying getting creative and experimenting with new sounds and songs!

It was also a big week last week, I performed ‘Bleeding Love’ at Clive’s pre-Grammy party and Ryan Tedder played piano. It was so nice to be invited to sing again and I also got to see Whitney Houston perform, she was brilliant and worked the crowd so well. It was an inspiring night seeing Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Whitney Houston singing, I had an awesome time!

I also got to attend the Grammys and I really couldn’t believe that I was actually there amongst all the influential artists of our time, I felt like I was in another world! It was such a surreal experience for me, I have always wanted to be a part of the Grammys since I was a child and I enjoyed every minute of it, and of course it was great to be nominated!

May 04 2009 - Update from LA!

Hi there,

I am on my way home to London and thought I’d update you on how things are going. I’ve been in the studio loads working with Ryan Tedder, which has been really exciting, I enjoy creating with him so much ‘cos he has lots of ideas and he’s so passionate!

I’ve also been working with a lot of talented writers and producers and I’m on a journey to find people I really connect with creatively! I’ve recorded some songs which I truly feel inspired by and I’m looking forward to sharing them.

I’ve also been having an awesome time in LA. I have been with the horses and riding loads, the other day my horse got a bit scared and head-butted me which hurt my lip and cheek pretty bad! I was in hiding for a few days waiting for the swelling to go down!

I also saw… wait for it… Michael Jackson! The other day my friend and I were shopping in Urban Outfitters (love that store!) on Melrose and as we were driving back there was a big commotion at the side of the road. People were scrambling and falling all over the place, we looked into the car that was right beside us and he got in and started signing autographs for people! That made my day, plus I got a really cute top from Urban so I was happy!

Well, I will blog again soon!

Love always

Jun 29 2009 - Michael Jackson blog

Michael Jackson was and forever will be one of the greatest influences in music. I don’t know a single person who was not moved in some way by him. I remember him being such an inspiration to me and my family growing up. We’d always have MJ playing or be watching his videos or copying his dance move. It is a great loss to music and my prayers go out to the Jackson family. Thank you for the music Michael you will live on in our hearts forever.
