u can't drink in a public place in the City of Dundee or in Fife coz of local by-laws.

 

Why should we adopt their customs in our country? if i moved to a predominantly musilm country i would adopt local cultures so i wasn't outcasted. that just doesn't seem 2 b happening in the overly politicly correct UK. what a farce.

Well, frankly, he's got a bit of a point about Britain becoming like Nazi Germany, the ultra-authoritarian soundbites that are coming out of this Govt are frankly summat Hitler, Goebbels and Himmler would be extremely proud of.... Hitler would've just LOVED the idea of detaining people without trial for indefinite periods, compulsory biometric ID cards, DNA databases to make rounding up Jews, Gypsies, and other "Non-Aryans" so much easier, right up his Authoritarian alleyway.....

 

Banning drinking in public places - Frankly, given all the anti-binge drinking and anti-chav statements emanating from various threads I would've thought that just about EVERYONE on this forum would agree with this one... I know I'm all for it, I used to think it was great to be able to drink in the streets when I came down to London, now I realise I was totally wrong in that thought and I realise why it was banned in my own home city of Dundee....

 

Arranged Marriages - Erm, well, we kinda had THOSE for hundreds of years, especially amongst the aristorcracy and beorgueois. So as for it not being part of British tradition, well, frankly, that's bullsh!t as well, none of you ever read your Jane Austen or Emily Bronte then...?? Not saying I agree with arranged marriages mind, but it aint exactly an alien concept to these shores..... And it was a Christian concept LONG before the idea was ever taken up by Islam.... In certain Orthodox and ultra-Christian countries, the practice is still in existence, let's not pretend that this is merely an Islamic invention because it is certainly NOT the case.....

Sorry Clare, but to confuse the Indian Hindus with Pakistani or Bangladeshi MUSLIMS is pretty ignorant on your part.... No offence, but if you're actually working with these people then you should really try to understand who they are, as I have, at least know the difference between a Muslim and a Hindu if nothing else.... And so what if they talk to each other in their own language, you trying to tell me you wouldn't do the same thing if you were working in India or Pakistan and had a few English co-workers to chat to....?

Point 1 - And you're honestly trying to tell me you wouldn't do the same thing with a fellow British mate if you were abroad... Dont lie, 'course you would....

 

Point 2 - I have never seen nearly as many ethnic tensions, instances of racism or out and out hate crimes in Scotland as down here, we've never had race riots in Scotland, not even in Glasgow... Could be because our Nationalist Party, the SNP, has absolutely ZERO tolerance for racism and hate crimes and stamps on these rare occurences hard, whereas the English BNP positively encourages racial and ethnic violence.....

 

Nope, pretty much the most ethnically violent things you tend to see in Scotland are the "Old Firm" matches between Rangers and Celtic.... :lol: :lol: Now that is brutal......
