The thing that worried me immensely with the England team [and has done way back into the Sven era and beyond] is the lack of heart in the team. They had the skill and luck to equal it up and then straight from the kick-off following the Crouch goal they hung back? What sort of team does that? It's almost as if they were waiting for the Croatia goal to come in.

McLaren did make yet another ridiculous blunder on his final game however in sticking Carson in. We have a makeshift defence with three of the back four barely mustering a credible amount of caps between them; so Steve decided to stick an untested-at-international-level keeper between the sticks? Serious lack of logic there. It doesn't even add up if you take the perspective that they were after the 0-0. Utterly bizzare. Sure Robinson may be a waste of space, but David James certainly isn't thesedays.

England having a press conference 20:30 Hrs tomorrow.

Steve McLaren was non commital about his future.

Fabio Cappello was at Wembley tonight, and when interviewed said he'd be honoured if he was asked to become national manager "of a great nation like England".

Cappello would be a very good choice. He's certainly got a good CV!

It's a foregone conclusion that McLaren's gone, and it seems only a matter of time before Cappello is hired...
