Posted November 20, 200717 yr i know the record industry is over flowing with re-issue mania, and they have to do it to get maximum interest out of their album projects, and to some extent its alright (10th year aniversity etc) but this has to take the biscuit. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8c/A_Weekend_in_the_City.jpg now the marketing promotion with the nme was alright (following white stripes and babyshambles) as you got the remixes for the non-album single flux with a copy of the nme to go with part 2 of non-album single flux cd, though how in f***s name should a non-album single flux end up being re-issued on their album??? that might have been alright if it wasnt for the fact that another limited edition cd/dvd edition has been re-issued to replace the limited edition cd/dvd that was released in the first week. now thats what i call a cash in league with the very worst marketing scams that the dvd industry gets up to, and so because of this rip-off bloc party/wichita records have to be labeled as one of the very worst corporate rock whores for a complete marketing rip off. (on the other hand ryan adams cd re-issue where you can by the extra disc, and girls aloud extra mixed up for £1.97 with the main album will mean they get my money before bloc party in future)
November 20, 200717 yr I'm sorry, for one I'm not sure I quite comphrehend all of your post, and two, I don't really see the big deal? Plus why bring Girls Aloud and Ryan Adams into this? =/ Seems very pointless to your argument. If they want to rerelease their album...why not? It's not like they're making you buy it?
November 20, 200717 yr f*** YOU!!!! and im definatly getting the re-realse when i already have the first release, it has two new tracks plus a dvd with there reading festival gig on it, and i was there so that always intrests me
November 20, 200717 yr I agree tbh. I hate it when bands re-issue albums. Just leave it as a single. Nuff respect for likes of Futureheads & Babyshambles who've done it as a stop-gap.
November 20, 200717 yr I have the original copy of A Weekend In The City and the new features are of limited interest to me so I'll give it a miss. Awesome album though.
November 21, 200717 yr I believe so? With Two More Years. I mean...I don't really encourage it or anything, but I really don't see any harm.
November 21, 200717 yr Alas, it's the norm nowadays - it became acceptable at some point for some reason and now everyone does it. At least it's not like the Automatic or New Young Pony Club who release their singles over and over again until they hit.

November 22, 200717 yr I'm totally with Alex on this... (but not the "hooray for Ryan Adams, Girls Aloud" part  , I think that was just an attempt to attract attention to the thread and spur a bit of debate tbh...) I am finding this trend amongst the so-called "indie/alternative" sub-culture for constantly rehashing and reissuing albums and singles for no particular reason to be downright insulting to the record buying public.... I get extremely irritated by bands that I like coming out with their original CD, you go out and buy it, and then another CD/DVD set comes out a few months later as a "reissue", and then you'll get another re-issue, but with bonus tracks this time.... The argument of "well, nobody forces anyone to buy it" is extremely bogus, the fans will feel compelled to buy it, forced or not. Record companies are evil.... Marketing is evil.... Bands should go 100% internet and tell Satan to go suck his own dick.... :P No wonder so many people download off torrent sites these days....

Bands should no way ever go 100% internet, they should go 100% DIY maybe, seems to be the way forward, i hate it when bands make only downloadable music, i love going out and buying my vinyl and cds

Look at the huge torrent sites and blogs out there, the record industry is losing the battle and like a bunch of King Canutes are standing in the way of a totally unstoppable tidal wave.... The ONLY way for bands to ensure they dont get ripped off is for them to take control of their music, get it out there on the net and take all the proceeds from the sales of their music for themselves, like Radiohead did recently....
