When Im 64 has come back to haunt Paul McCartney . When he first recorded it in 1967 I bet he didnt think it was going to be such an eventful year for him as he reached this age.
Tainted Love for Soft Cell, even though they didn't write it.... the wost of all their singles yet, bafflingly, their biggest hit.
Roger Daltrey singing " I hope I die before I get old"
Not exactly retro, but Duran Duran releasing "Falling Down" which becomes their second least successful single in their 26 year chart history, is certainly coming back to haunt them, especially as the album "Red Carpet Massacre" is flopping badly as a result.

Tainted Love by Soft Cell is one of my favourite songs - it brings back all sorts of happy memories. The first house I lived in in Leeds while at Poly was once occupied my the lovely Marc Almond.

It was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in the late 60s. Gloria Jones was the girlfriend of the late Marc Bolan at the time on his death, in fact she was driving the car in which he was killed.

Her version was massive on the Northern Soul circuit of the 70s and Soft Cell were big fans of this genre.

Another of their Top 10 hits - WHAT was also a big NS hit recorded by Judy Cheeks it was then titled What Can I Say.
