Since this forum is kinda slow in the off Eurovision season, I talked to David and he agreed, so we can start an ESC-like song contest with our own countries :o Yeah and our very own country flags too :D

So here are the rules for the BuzzJack Song Contest borrowed from the ''Nation Song Contest" on the esctoday.com forum:

 

Countries:

 

* Anyone wishing to participate must come up with the bare minimum of a country name and flag, although other details about the country, for example the language or the name of the capital city, are encouraged.

 

* Before every edition a thread will be made asking people for confirmation of their entry - this is the time you must send your "new country" information to the host, if you're hoping to participate for the first time. However, all countries must confirm their participation each time.

 

Artists & Songs:

 

* Artists being used by another country may not be used in the same contest. This includes artists being used in another country's National Final until they have confirmed they will not be entering for them.

 

* Artists used in the prior contest may not be used for the following contest. This only applies to your entry - the artist may be used in the following contest if they were used by another country in the prior contest.

 

* Artists who came top 3 in the prior contest may not be used for the following contest.

 

* Songs may not have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest (or the Junior version), nor may they have taken part in a national final for the (J)ESC.

 

* Songs may be covers.

 

* Songs can be in any language.

 

* Countries may use a "national final" or an "internal selection" to choose their entries.

 

* Songs can have been released at any time.

 

* Songs may not have been used in previous contests, however they may have been used in previous National Finals, but only if unsuccessful.

 

* NB: Although you can enter any song you like (provided it hasn't already been entered for Eurovision before or someone else has entered a song by the same artist) it's far far better if you don't choose something that everyone will already know. Part of the fun of this contest is discovering new music! :D

 

Hosting:

 

* The right to host goes automatically to the winner of the previous edition. If for any reason the previous winner cannot, or does not want to, host, then the right falls to the second placed, then the third, the fourth, and so on. The host is expected to take care of the song presentation and the presentation of the results, as well as collecting the songs and votes in the first place.

 

Voting:

 

* The nations must PM their points to the organizing country. These points are: 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point.

 

* If a country does not submit its votes on time, it will have 75% taken away from its score

 

* Eliminated semi finalists must vote in the final if they expect to participate next time, and prequalified finalists must vote in the semi final, otherwise they will be removed from the final.

 

* Revealing your votes before they are officially announced is not allowed.

 

* Making 'deals' with other countries (example - swapping votes) is not allowed.

 

Punishment:

 

* Infringing any of these rules will lead to disqualification from the current and following contest as well as a retraction of any votes given by the offending nation if any.

 

So let me sum up for those who can't be bothered to read them :P

 

In short:

 

You need to create your own (fantasy) country , name it and create your very own country flag ;)

 

For the contest you can enter whichever artist and song you like (covers are allowed too) so artist's country (real country) does not matter, the only thing is one artist can participate in the current edition of the contest, with one song for one country (so if anyone enters a Madonna song Madonna is taken for that edition but for the next one another country is free to choose her).

 

The main rule about the song choices is that only Eurovsion songs are NOT ALLOWED (also ESC prequalification songs, e.g. Making Your Mind Up entries) but of course you can enter an ESC artist with a non-ESC song, or whichever artist you like as I said ;) So even if your are not familiar with the original Eurovision Song Contest doesn't matter since the ESC songs could not be entered on the BJ version of this contest :music:

 

Ss for the voting we have the ESC style of votes here: you vote for your top 10 songs> 12 points for your 1st placed, 10 for your 2nd fave , 8 for your 3rd fave....to 1 for your 10th ranked song ;)

 

We're gonna use YouTube videos (no mp3 sharing ^_^ ) and you can send official videos, live performances, fan made videos doesn't matter really...and another similarity with the real ESC is that the winning country (player) has the rights to host the next edition! (Of course only if he/she wants to :D)

 

And that's basically it! And my in short turned not to be so short :lol: But ask anything that you don't understand or like to know more about it!
