Be aware that we pretty much have a limit of 54 countries :o (25 in each semi and 4 prequalifiers) So an extra thirteen countries is really all we can handle...assuming everyone wants to re-enter! :o

could always have 3 semi finals :o

That would be ridiculously hard to pull off :(

yeah, that would be no problem to organise...just split everyone into three groups instead of two...I don't think we would get that many countries though...I even wonder if all 41 countries from BJSC7 will want to come back!?!

not really...I could manage it...:smoke:

good to see you advertising the contest in your sig!

I think it's gonna be Bhangra-esque contest :kink: with about 20 entries :o Summer (sigh)

I will still enter; but I doubt I'll be around much near the end of July. I'm going to Cornwall for a week.

it's on the 22nd now, hope this means you'll be around...

as 11th July will be the last date to confirm your entry, all songs will be known by this date...therefore, anyone who thinks they might be away at the end of the month can listen to and order all of the songs from fave to worst, and I will sort out your votes in BJSC points based on that list :D

hopefully we'll have more! it's not exactly a lot of effort to participate

it is a lot of effort for the host though, as I'm sure Boyan, David, Ben/Trashley, Adi and Pavel will agree with

It is quite the effort, not too bad if you have a holiday spare though :w00t:

David didn't do that much anyway :kink: The only one not to do a recap video, tut tut :smoke:

the recap video is the hardest thing to do...and I might have to do three this time

Windows Movie Maker is a complete and utter b!tch to use

Are you planning to do the recap videos in the traditional style then? I found the recap videos for my contest to be quite easy to make, they just took about 2 hours to do each. I quite enjoyed making them.

I don't think any aspect of the hosting my contest was difficult just some of it takes a while. (recaps and the banners would have taken time for me) Then parts of it are worrying. (making sure you record all the results correctly)

That's sooooo true

not sure yet, I might do the videos...as soon as the confirmation thread closes I'll download and cut the clips out, and then I can put them into a line at the end for the three different videos

last time I left it all until the last minute and it took me all day to download all of the videos, that was the most time consuming thing to do...

no, it's not difficult, it's sometimes annoying chasing people up by PM though

I made a massive mistake when hosting the final of BJSC5 which I don't know if anyone noticed...the funniest thing is it would have affected my own result had I not corrected it...about half way through, a country (can't remember which) gave FSR Rontvia 7 points, which I somehow missed from adding to the final leaderboard...luckily, I noticed it before I'd finished reading out the results, so edited all of the updated leaderboards accordingly :heehee: had I not realised, FSR Rontvia would have finished lower than 8th :o

I've learnt my lesson now, no more carelessness this time around! oh and I'm not making banners...if Trashley doesn't have time to do it, then there probably won't be any :P

That's sooooo true

I remember many worried posts from you about WMM when you were hosting :heehee: I hope it's nicer to me this time around :o

just to add; although it's hard, I did enjoy hosting it the first time and it's a great thing to do!

you are the only one that knows the results before the final thread + you can see the voting as and when it comes in, and you know all the songs back to front, or at least I did from making the recap video...you have to listen to all of the songs in order to pick the chorus out to put in the recap vid

How do you download the videos? I was going to give it a try this time round but the guide I had said that you have to download them, then convert them and then download that converted version. To do that 41 times would have just been silly, it would have taken a full day whereas just getting the audio, which I was planning on doing anyway to listen to them with more ease, took a few hours at most.

Definitely. I think hosting is really great for those reasons. You know all the votes, you get really familiar with all the songs. Although I didn't listen to all of the songs before making the recap for semi 2, I just thought it was easy to spot the chorus, so hopefully I didn't mess up on that video.

I think that the basic recap video that Aaron did was far better - sure, it doesn't look as impressive, but videos only serve as gimmicks in what should primarily be a song contest ^_^

And yes, when I co-hosted with Ben, I did discover the joys of hosting  The recap video is great fun to make, if long (I had to do it twice for the semi and the final, losing about 5 hours of sleep in the process :heehee:), there is a certain pleasure in knowing the results, and you do get some of the most developed votes as a result of having listened to the songs enough damned times for even songs that are growers to wear off on you!

yeah, that's what I did...I had a program called YouTube downloader and then had to convert .flv files or something

evidently, those programmes are not on my laptop anymore, I did the last one on my old PC  if I download them a few a day as and when people confirm their songs, I should be alright

I'll see how it goes...I might do an audio one, I might do a video one...

one day Kopecka will win, I haven't heard the Little Boots song yet, is it a potential winner :kink: or will Lily Allen beat you!
