maybe if you factor in internet sales, etc. but there is no way it sold that much on shelves only
Seriously. Soundscan updated with all aspects of sales including digital, pre-release, multiple downloads (people who bought he album twice via itunes), and imports from the States. I have a link as well.
Can you post that link here or PM it to me please? I'd be really appreciated thanks ;)
Yeah, actually 850k is a bit hard to believe at this point. If it's not from an official Soundscan source then I bet the sales numbers are false.
Sorry guys, those were combined with Canadian sales...
Your comments next to the sales are ridiculous. How is selling more then 760,000 albums in a country that practically hates you, along with absolutely no promo except two good singles, bad?
Yeah, I wouldn't consider it a small amount even compared to her past albums in the U.S. It took a while for her other albums to pick up as well and it's sold 769k with only 2 singles so far and no promo from Britney whatsoever (besides videos)!
I hope you don't take my comment rudly Scott, it's just that I think the album has done amazingly well for Britney considering everything that she is going through. Rihanna didn't hit one million with her last album until the third single in the States, and that was off the back of a HUGE single and two hit songs following it...not to mention a load of promo.

compared to her other albums, yes it is HORRIBLE! due to lack of promo, yes it is great. my comment was simply the fact that this is not what brit normally sells...

Album sales have gone down SOOOOO much since Britney released her Greatest Hits album it is ridiculous. Illegal downloading has basically cut album sales in half, but with the age of LEGAL downloading it has brought the sales of downloading REALLY high up. And in that aspect she has done AMAZING, almost 1.2 million downloads with Gimme More, and POM will probabbly be at 900k with tomorrows sales update!

It has gotten to the point where either the artist has to have an AMAZING reputation to sale albums right off the bat (Alicia Keys, Beyonce Knowles, etc) and right now Britney doesn't have that. But sales will continue to grow if she continues to prove the album is good by releasing great singles...which are plentiful on Blackout. If she releases 5 singles and has videos with them I am willing to bet that the album would sell around 1.5 - 2 million copies in the States.

Shifting 10,000 copies a week, when the only promotion is a single that has been out for 3 months is fine with me.

Haha, I was just about to say that too. Album sales are totally not what they used to be. If you look at ANY artist you can pretty much say they haven't nearly sold what they used to back in the day with newer albums!

I seriously doubt we'll be getting anymore singles off Blackout after Break The Ice. As much as I love Blackout and think it has a lot more potential singles I don't think there will be and rightfully so. Britney needs to go now. Go away. Somewhere to relax, take it easy and get herself better, and properly this time instead of being shoved on a stage at the VMA's when she's not ready.

As much as I don't want this project to be over it really needs to be, if sacrificing the potential on this album will help Britney get better i'm sure I and the rest of her fans would agree it was the best decision.

I agree, although it's just a massive shame to see such a great album wasted with only one great music video (POM obviously) and no promotion or anything. But I guess the fans have to deal with the album being labelled a comparitive flop if they want Brit to get back to the point where she can promote, and tour, and do all the usual stuff.
She is now at 800k in USA, obviously it is not good for her but yeah in these conditions it would not be easy to get more than this. I think that she will reach 1 million at her best (at least it's platinum) and probably 2 million worldwide.
She's already got to 2 million worldwide, hasn't she? She's sold 200k in the UK, I know that...

I think we will have a fourth single and that it will probably be animated as well, because there was a statement already released by Jive that there are already 4 single to be released. But I think that if they do that it should have no involvement with Britney at all. Britney needs to go to Kentwood for a year, and have something worked out to where she can meet Kevin somewhere to see her kids every so often.
