May 16, 200619 yr I Knew PSB would be higher without downloads -_- DPT Holding up strongly on downloads! I predict the album's release will cause them to fall out of the top 20 this week anyway.
May 16, 200619 yr 09 NE Daz Sampson - Teenage Life thank god for downloads!!! :cheer: 17 NE Delays - Hideaway 19 NE Graham Coxon - You and I 22 NE Hot Chip - Boy From School 23 NE Starsailor - Keep Us Together wow! so all the fans must have rushed out to get these! always thought the delays record should have been bigger, pity it hasnt crossed over into the mainstream downloaders! even with it being played on wogan's radio 2 show this morn
May 16, 200619 yr Shame downloads are counted now -_- Daz could have gone top ten straight away, although I reckon he will this week or next, especially if he does well in ESC. :)
May 16, 200619 yr Agree totally with you. I am really a robot from the planet Ressot and am programmed to annoy humans.Brip brip gibber gibber Phnark !
May 16, 200619 yr Beautiful South did badly on downloads then- a top 20 entry becomes a number 41 entry! On one level I'm glad downloads aren't counted, as it usually pushes rubbishy reissue cash-ins like the Wacko Jacko releases and stuff like Daz Simpson further down the chart, but it seems to be really bad for indie acts. Delays, Graham Coxon, The Upper Room and Hot Chip would have been much higher. Still, whichever way you look at it the downloads included chart is a much more acurate reflection of what people are buying.

May 17, 200619 yr Thanks Mikey :) It is annoying to see records performing less-well chartwise on the comblined when they would have been much higher on physicals.
May 17, 200619 yr I hated downloads at first but I prefer it now. It makes much more interesting chartruns and pushes up the sales. I'm thinking now the top ten are selling about 6k per week on physicals if Jacko can get in there.

Yes there are postives to the combined chart but like everything there are negatives like i mentioned. It's a shame but i guess it's something we have to live with.
May 18, 200619 yr There aren't really negatives. If downloads had NEVER been included the chart would still look like the combined one does now, because people would prefer to purchase a physical single if it included. Downloads only kicked off after about 6 months off the charts being combined becuase that's when people realised that they could buy songs easier and still make them count towards the charts. That's why before it only really affected the songs towoards the bottom of the charts. Now they can help Orson go from around no.10 to no.1 and Jacko from the top 10 to the bottom of the top 20. Everyone says that the charts look better like this but if downloads were never combined the physicals chart would look more like the combined chart than this!
May 18, 200619 yr the charts are way more interesting now with downloads - there's more longevity in a record and that's a great thing... I hate songs going top 10 then disappearing the next few weeks. Saying that, though, the Pet Shop Boys single deserved FAR higher than number 8.
